The release of Happy Gilmore 2 was a monumental moment in Adam Sandler‘s career, making it the perfect time to watch some of his other movies. 1996’s Happy Gilmore is generally considered to be one of Sandler’s funniest movies, and fans had been asking for a sequel for years.
His comedies aren’t always received well by critics, but reviews for Happy Gilmore 2 have actually been quite respectable. The film currently has a score of 63% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is quite good for Sandler, and it has broken several records on Netflix. On most fronts, it’s clear that the sequel has been a major success.
Now, fans desperately want more comedies starring Sandler. There’s no doubt that the comedian will continue his partnership with Netflix and release more films on the streaming service in the coming years. In the meantime, there are plenty of movies starring the actor that are perfect to revisit right now.

Hubie Halloween (2020)
In Hubie Halloween, Sandler plays a constantly mocked community volunteer who is forced to solve a real murder on the year’s scariest day. While Happy Gilmore 2, just like the original film, is a sports comedy in which Sandler plays a hockey player-turned-golfer, Hubie Halloween takes inspiration from the horror genre.
It’s quite a shift from Happy Gilmore 2, but does share many surprising connections to the film. Most notably, Ben Stiller plays Hal L. in Hubie Halloween, which is his role in both Happy Gilmore movies. Hal L. is such a vile character, but Stiller plays him perfectly, so fans of Happy Gilmore 2 will enjoy seeing him in this Halloween flick.
Additionally, Hubie Halloween also features Julie Bowen, who plays Happy’s wife in the recent sequel. Surprisingly, Bowen’s Virginia dies at the beginning of Happy Gilmore 2. Because of this, she wasn’t featured as much as expected in the long-awaited sequel, but fans can still enjoy her performance in Hubie Halloween.

Uncut Gems (2019)
Unlike all the other movies on this list, Uncut Gems definitely can’t be considered a traditional comedy film. Instead, Sandler’s 2019 outing is a crime thriller which follows a New York City jeweler who makes a high-stakes bet that could completely change his life. Still, it’s worth watching after Happy Gilmore 2 because it is co-directed by Benny Safdie.
Safdie also plays the main villain in Happy Gilmore 2, Frank Manatee. While he is better known as a director, he has starred in many acclaimed movies over the last few years, such as Oppenheimer and Licorice Pizza. Him having a major role in Happy Gilmore 2 proves that he and Sandler maintained a great relationship after making Uncut Gems.
Uncut Gems definitely has a very different tone from Happy Gilmore 2, but it is undoubtedly one of the best movies of Sandler’s career. It has an impressive score of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes, making it a must-watch for fans of Sandler, especially if you haven’t seen him in many serious roles before.

Grown Ups (2010)
Now getting back into Sandler’s more traditional comedies, Grown Ups is one of the most beloved movies of his career. The 2010 comedy film follows a group of childhood friends who reunite for their old basketball coach’s funeral and spend a weekend at a cottage together. The friends and their families all spending the weekend together makes for several hilarious, and heartwarming, moments.
In addition to Sandler, the cast of Grown Ups includes actors like Kevin James, David Spade, Chris Rock, and Salma Hayek. This all-star cast is one of the reasons why the film is the highest-grossing live-action movie of Sandler’s career. The impressive record proves that it is worth a watch, especially if you liked Happy Gilmore 2.
In Grown Ups, Sandler’s character’s son is played by Cameron Boyce, who tragically pᴀssed away in 2019. There is a touching Cameron Boyce tribute in Happy Gilmore 2, so fans of the film will definitely appreciate seeing him and Sandler share the screen together in Grown Ups.

Grown Ups 2 (2013)
Sandler hasn’t made many sequels throughout his career, which is why the release of Happy Gilmore 2 is so notable. However, after the mᴀssive success of the first film, Sandler and the rest of the cast reprised their roles for 2013’s Grown Ups 2. In the sequel, Sandler’s character moves his family out of Los Angeles and to his hometown so he can spend more time with his friends.
Obviously, all the characters find themselves in plenty of hilarious situations. Just like the first movie, Grown Ups 2 was also a major hit at the box office. Furthermore, it once again features Boyce as Sandler’s character’s son, so it is definitely worth a watch after Happy Gilmore 2.

The Longest Yard (2005)
In addition to the Happy Gilmore movies, Sandler has starred in a few other sports comedies throughout his career. In 2005’s The Longest Yard, which is a remake of the 1974 movie of the same name, he plays Paul Crewe, a disgraced NFL quarterback who is accused of shaving points and sent to prison. While there, he leads a team of inmates against the guards in a football game.
Joining Sandler in the cast are Burt Reynolds, who led the original movie, Chris Rock, Terry Crews, and several former WWE wrestlers like Bill Goldberg, Steve Austin, and Kevin Nash. If you’re a football fan, then you will definitely be very entertained by The Longest Yard.
Obviously, golf and football are two completely different sports. However, The Longest Yard is essential vewing after Happy Gilmore 2 to see just how much sports have influenced Sandler’s career. The comedian is a huge sports fan, and it’s always a delight to see him play an athlete in a movie.
3
The Waterboy (1998)
On the topic of football, Sandler also starred in 1998’s The Waterboy. He plays Bobby Boucher, the water boy for an accomplished college football team. When he is fired, Bobby joins the rival team, who practically never win. He then leads the team on a shocking and inspiring winning streak, making it a feel-good sports comedy film.
The Waterboy came out just two years after the original Happy Gilmore, when Sandler was still a rising star. It features the classic style of comedy that the actor has been praised for throughout his career. If you still haven’t seen The Waterboy, it’s a necessary addition to your watchlist.
2
Big Daddy (1999)
Just like The Waterboy, Big Daddy is a comedy that was released much earlier in Sandler’s career. Here, he plays Sonny, who is desperate to prove himself to his girlfriend after she breaks up with him because he’s too immature. To show that he can handle responsibility, he adopts a 5-year-old kid named Julian, who is played by twins Dylan and Cole Sprouse.
Big Daddy is a hilarious film that sees Sonny form a surprising connection with Julian, his newest family member. Just like Big Daddy, Happy Gilmore 2 also focuses on family. In the sequel, Happy is trying to earn money so that he can send his daughter to an elite dance program in Paris. It also features Happy’s four sons, who are hilarious personalities.
Happy definitely isn’t the best father in Happy Gilmore 2, and the exact same thing can be said for Sandler’s character in Big Daddy. However, there are still plenty of heartwarming moments between the unexpected father-son duo in the latter film, an element that it has in common with Happy Gilmore 2.
1
Billy Madison (1995)
Billy Madison is the oldest movie on this list, and was actually released before the original Happy Gilmore. In the 1995 project, Sandler plays a spoiled rich kid who is forced to retake and pᴀss every single grade in just 24 weeks. Obviously, pairing Sandler with a bunch of children from different grades makes for a hilarious film.
Just like several other movies on this list, Billy Madison is a beloved comedy starring Sandler. This, just like the original Happy Gilmore, is a тιтle that solidified him as a major Hollywood star. Therefore, it’s definitely an Adam Sandler movie that’s worth watching after the release of Happy Gilmore 2.
