Paul Rudd and A24’s cringe-comedy movie was largely ignored when it came out in May, but viewers will soon get a chance to enjoy the overlooked film at home, as its streaming release date is revealed.

Rudd ranks as one of the most beloved actors currently working in Hollywood, thanks to memorable performances in everything from Ant-Man to Anchorman to the recent Ghostbusters sequels. Earlier in 2025, the star added to his diverse body of work by playing the befuddled dad to Jenna Ortega’s unicorn-bonding teen in the darkly comic Death of a Unicorn.

December will see Rudd encountering a different kind of mythical beast when he joins Jack Black and others in the ensemble cast of the meta-movie reboot of Anaconda. Rudd’s other release of 2025 came out back in May on a limited number of screens, and did modestly well by the standards of its studio, but was hardly a hit.

Paul Rudd And A24’s Friendship Is Coming To Streaming

Rudd’s black comedy Friendship came out back in May, but the A24 movie failed to find an audience, and it’s now looking for a second chance as it’s set to release on streaming. After premiering at 2024’s Toronto International Film Festival, the movie was given a limited release, grossing $16.6 million at the box office.

HBO Max confirms that Friendship will be added to the service on September 5, 2025, and will hit HBO linear on September 6 at 8 PM ET. The film’s logline reads as follows:
