I can’t believe I only just noticed these 17 Spider-Verse actors also played other comic book characters. The Spider-Verse movies have some of the most stacked voice casts in superhero cinema. Yet what’s easy to miss is just how many of these Marvel actors have also played other roles in comic book adaptations.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse boast A-list stars, acclaimed character actors, and beloved comedians all lending their voices. Many of these have crossed between Marvel and DC, while others have jumped from live-action to animation with ease. Looking back, it’s shocking how many familiar faces in Spider-Verse have comic book resumes longer than expected.

Hailee Steinfeld
Hailee Steinfeld voices Gwen Stacy, one of the heartbeats of the Spider-Verse films. She also plays Kate Bishop in the MCU’s Hawkeye and will likely return in other future Marvel projects. The duality of her roles is striking.
Steinfeld is rebellious, vulnerable, and heroic in both universes, but in completely different ways. Gwen is a conflicted Spider-Woman pulled between friendship and duty, while Kate is a snarky protégé learning to navigate the Avengers’ world. Steinfeld nails both characters’ humor and emotional depthanim.

Mahershala Ali
Mahershala Ali voices Uncle Aaron, aka the Prowler, in the Spider-Verse movies. He gave the character a grounded, menacing edge that shapes Miles Morales’ journey. Yet Ali’s comic book legacy doesn’t end there.
Ali has also been cast as Blade in the MCU, stepping into the role once owned by Wesley Snipes. Few actors can embody such different archetypes, from a gritty criminal anti-hero to a vampire-hunting legend. Ali’s gravitas and range make him a perfect fit for both characters,

Brian Tyree Henry
Brian Tyree Henry voices Jefferson Davis, Miles Morales’ devoted cop father in the Spider-Verse. He oozes warmth, humor, and authority. Indeed, the father-son bond is one of the emotional cores of the saga and helped cement its perfect superhero ending in Into the Spider-Verse.
Beyond animation, Henry entered the MCU in Eternals as Phastos, the genius inventor among the cosmic superheroes. While Jefferson grounds the story with human vulnerability, Phastos operates on a galactic scale, responsible for shaping civilizations. Henry’s performances show his versatility as both the everyman heart of a family and a godlike hero.

Zoë Kravitz
Zoë Kravitz voiced Mary Jane Watson in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, giving Peter Parker’s love interest a brief but memorable appearance. Kravitz has also played some other memorable superheroes. Years earlier, she played Angel Salvatore in X-Men: First Class, a mutant with insect-like wings and sonic screams.
More recently, Kravitz stole the spotlight as Selina Kyle in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. The three roles couldn’t be more different. MJ is tender, Angel is rebellious, and Selina is cunning and morally gray. Kravitz effortlessly embodies them all.
13
Nicolas Cage
Nicolas Cage gave one of the funniest and coolest versions of Spider-Man in Into the Spider-Verse as the hard-boiled, trench coat–wearing Spider-Man Noir. His ᴅᴇᴀᴅpan delivery and pulpy 1930s vibe made him an instant favorite. Cage also has Marvel history in live-action.
Cage starred as Johnny Blaze, aka Ghost Rider, in two films. While those movies had mixed receptions, Cage’s commitment to supernatural intensity was unforgettable. Whether playing a chain-smoking private eye Spider-Man or a flaming-skulled biker, Cage always swings for the fences with style.
12
Kathryn Hahn
Kathryn Hahn gave a shocking performance in Into the Spider-Verse as Olivia Octavius, a quirky but sinister twist on Doctor Octopus. Her enthusiastic menace made her one of the standout villains of the film. Then Hahn jumped into live-action Marvel, stealing every scene as Agatha Harkness in WandaVision.
This led to her own solo series Agatha All Along. Each performance highlights her comedic timing and ability to pivot into chilling territory instantly. Hahn brings a playful unpredictability that makes her characters unforgettable – and ensures she’s always a favorite.
11
Liev Schreiber
In Into the Spider-Verse, Liev Schreiber voiced Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, a towering figure driven by grief and obsession. His booming performance gave the villain surprising depth beyond his imposing frame. Years earlier, Schreiber stepped into another Marvel role.
Schreiber played Victor Creed, better known as Sabretooth, in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. While the film has its critics, Schreiber’s feral menace made him a standout. Schreiber truly showcased his range in bringing two entirely different comic book villains to life.
10
Chris Pine
Chris Pine lent his voice to the original Spider-Man in Into the Spider-Verse. It portrays Peter Parker at his peak – charismatic, heroic, and ultimately tragic. His brief role left a huge impression, setting the tone for Miles’ journey.
Pine is also known for playing Steve Trevor in DC’s Wonder Woman films. He brought humor, sincerity, and charm to Diana Prince’s love interest. Pine shines in both universes, whether an iconic Marvel hero or a human grounding force.
9
Donald Glover
Donald Glover has a unique connection to the Spider-Man mythos. In Across The Spider-Verse, he appeared as a variant of the Prowler. In live-action, he also played Aaron Davis (the same character) in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Glover’s very campaign to play Spider-Man years earlier helped inspire Miles Morales’ creation in the comics. His dual roles as Aaron highlight how closely tied he is to the Spider-Man legacy. Whether animated or live-action, Glover’s contributions helped shape how audiences see the character of Miles today.
8
Oscar Isaac
Oscar Isaac voices Miguel O’Hara, aka Spider-Man 2099, the brooding, multiverse-patrolling leader introduced in Across the Spider-Verse who memorably recreated the pointing Spider-Man meme. Yet his Marvel resume is stacked. Isaac played the ancient and villainous mutant Apocalypse in X-Men: Apocalypse.
Isaac also played the fractured vigilante Moon Knight in the MCU. These three roles show Isaac’s chameleon-like versatility. He can play imposing villains, tormented heroes or futuristic antiheroes.
