Pedro Pascal’s Next Movie Is The One I’ve Been Waiting 6 Years For

Pedro Pascal is on a generational run of theatrical releases right now, but it’s his next movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu, that I’ve been waiting six years for. Pascal has been acting for decades, but he was launched headfirst into superstardom following his leading roles in both The Mandalorian as Din Djarin and The Last of Us as Joel Miller.

In 2025, Pascal feels particularly inescapable at the box office. July especially saw three different Pascal films – The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Materialists, and Eddington – all playing in the theaters at once, with him having either a starring or supporting role. It’s his next release, however, that I’m more than ready to see.

Pedro Pascal Is Finally Returning As Din Djarin In The Mandalorian And Grogu

Pascal’s next movie to hit theaters is his return to the role of Din Djarin in The Mandalorian and Grogu in May 2026. Pascal last played Din Djarin in The Mandalorian season 3, which wrapped up in April 2023. By the time The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters, we will have waited three years to see his character’s triumphant return.

While the nature of Pascal’s involvement in the role of Din Djarin has long since been a point of contention amongst fans, Star Wars has already made things clear for The Mandalorian and Grogu. At this year’s Star Wars Celebration Japan, which I attended, they shared a pH๏τo of Pascal helmet-less in Din Djarin’s silver suit of armor on set.

This wasn’t a set-in-stone indication of Din Djarin having helmet-less scenes in The Mandalorian and Grogu, but it does prove that Pascal has a more physical role in this movie than he had in the latest installment of The Mandalorian. Either way, it’s clear that Pascal is ready to give the performance of a lifetime as Din Djarin.

The Mandalorian Has Long Since Deserved A Cinematic Treatment

Din Djarin and Grogu in The Mandalorian

In truth, I’ve been waiting for a movie based on The Mandalorian ever since season 1 debuted in late 2019. The Mandalorian season 1 especially was such a cinematic experience, much of which can be credited to legendary cinematographer Greig Fraser. Six years later, it’s a relief to know this series is finally getting the movie treatment.

It’s also the most sensible move for Star Wars as a franchise. This will be the first Star Wars movie since 2019’s divisive Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and The Mandalorian, which has proven to be a mᴀssive success worldwide, is the perfect choice to lead the charge once again in the movie theater.

Pascal and The Mandalorian have both earned their rightful places at the movie theater on Star Wars’ behalf. As someone who’s been seated ever since the TV show first began, I couldn’t be more excited that The Mandalorian and Grogu is the next release on Pascal’s radar.

The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters May 22, 2026.
