Avengers: Doomsday Theory Explains How Doctor Doom Manipulates A Powerful MCU Hero

A new Avengers: Doomsday theory shows how Doctor Doom could use a powerful hero to get what he wants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Robert Downey Jr.’s Victor von Doom is still a mystery. While the character has already made his MCU debut, not much is known about Marvel’s new Doctor Doom. His motivations and past remain largely a secret.

Avengers: Doomsday‘s story will be left with the task of exploring what Doctor Doom has been up to in the MCU and why he is such a major threat that leads to the New Avengers, Sam Wilson’s Avengers, Fox’s X-Men, and more superhero teams being added to the cast of the next Avengers movie.

Given the secrecy surrounding Avengers: Doomsday, several MCU theories have emerged over the past year. Despite the movie currently being in production, few details have been revealed. However, The Fantastic Four: First Steps opens the door for a new Avengers: Doomsday theory, and if it is accurate, then Doctor Doom’s MCU story could have a major twist involving a key hero.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps Teased Doctor Doom’s MCU Origin

For months, it was speculated that Downey’s Doctor Doom would debut in the MCU’s Fantastic Four movie. After all, Victor von Doom appeared in every live-action Fantastic Four movie before the characters returned to Marvel. As expected, that happened, with Doctor Doom appearing in The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘ mid-credits scene. Despite rumors, Doctor Doom’s MCU debut was still surprising.

That is due to how the scene played out. As Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm went back into the room where she had left her son, Franklin Richards, she found Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom interacting with the child. Doom even took off his mask to show Franklin his face, providing a moment of bonding, though the audience could not see it.

Doctor Doom’s access to the Baxter Building heavily implies that Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom comes from the Fantastic Four’s universe in the franchise. Another The Fantastic Four: First Steps scene teased the same thing earlier. When the MCU movie showed the UN, one of the countries represented there was Latveria, which is commonly ruled by Doctor Doom in Marvel Comics.

Sue Storm Is The Fantastic Four’s Most Powerful Hero (Besides Franklin Richards)

The Fantastic Four: First Steps did a wonderful job of showcasing the team’s powers. Marvel’s First Family is pretty unique in that regard, and both the CGI and story uses for their powers worked perfectly in the Fantastic Four reboot. However, the MCU movie did not waste time making it clear that two heroes stand a step above the rest.

While Franklin Richards, who possesses the Power Cosmic, just like Galactus, is The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘ most powerful hero, his mother, Sue Storm, comes right behind him. The Invisible Woman’s powers are usually employed by having Sue turn herself, others, and vehicles invisible. Sue is also known for creating force barriers with it, protecting and attacking as needed.

In the MCU Fantastic Four movie, she pushed her powers to the limit, showing how powerful Sue Storm really is. While it is true that using such force killed her before she was brought back to life, Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm was the only Fantastic Four member to impact Galactus. She successfully pushed him across New York into the Fantastic Four’s portal.

Avengers: Doomsday Theory – Doctor Doom Manipulates Sue Storm To Ultimately Create Battleworld

Battleworld in Marvel Comics

Based on Sue Storm’s very public display of power in the MCU movie, Doctor Doom could see the value in her skills. A new Avengers: Doomsday theory explains how Sue could be manipulated by the villain. In The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Marvel showed how Sue saw the best in people and believed them. That has positives and negatives.

Sue’s actions ended up benefiting the Fantastic Four and their Earth in the MCU movie, as she was the main factor that helped Mole Man stop being a villain, which led to the character keeping New York’s citizens safe in Subterranea when Galactus came calling.

Given that Sue has a strong presence at the UN and Latveria is also part of it, it is possible for Kirby’s Sue and Downey’s Doctor Doom to have crossed paths before their meeting in the Baxter Building. RDJ’s Doctor Doom would not have to be a villain at first, as Sue could have a history of having helped him.

That would open the door for Doctor Doom to ask Sue for help to save the multiverse when they talk after what we see in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. With the MCU adapting Secret Wars and space anomalies mentioned in Thunderbolts*, incursions should be happening. However, it could all be Doom manipulating Sue into giving him access to Franklin to create Battleworld.

How Franklin Richards’ Powers Could Help Doctor Doom In Avengers: Doomsday

In Marvel Comics, Battleworld is a patchwork planet made of locations from across the multiverse with Marvel heroes and villains in unexpected roles. Franklin Richards has reality-altering powers that would be perfect for creating Batteworld in the MCU. In his debut, Franklin was powerful enough to resurrect his mother, Sue Storm, even though he was a baby.

Four years have pᴀssed by the time Doctor Doom meets Franklin, which means his powers have likely only grown. In Marvel Comics’ Secret Wars, Franklin helps reshape the multiverse. As such, he should play a key role in the upcoming Avengers movies. If Sue trusts Doctor Doom, he could trick Franklin into creating Battleworld, only to rule it in Avengers: Doomsday.
