The triple shooting occurred around 2:20 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2026, in a parking lot on North Jackson Street in downtown Athens. Athens-Clarke County police reported three victims:
Clayton Adams, 22, from Hull, Georgia, died at the scene.

Dylan Bentley, 19, was critically injured and later died Sunday, March 15, 2026.
Landon Skinner, 20, sustained serious injuries and remains in critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital.

Clayton Adams’ family shared a pH๏τo of him with FOX 5 Atlanta and expressed their grief. He was described as a kind and helpful person. According to Landon Skinner’s family and mother (Shanna Duren), Clayton and Dylan tried to intervene and help Landon during the incident, and they were called “heroes.” Landon’s family is deeply saddened and sends their deepest condolences to the families of the two deceased victims.

The suspect arrested is Mark Desousa (or Mark Dosa), 22, from Jefferson, Georgia. He is accused of involvement in the shooting and faces charges of murder and ᴀssault. Police arrested him immediately after the incident.

The community held memorial activities such as releasing balloons in Gainesville to remember Clayton Adams and Dylan Bentley. Additionally, crowdfunding campaigns were launched to help with funeral expenses and support the families of the victims.
