Jurᴀssic World Rebirth Box Office Roars Past Major Global Milestone Following VOD Release

Jurᴀssic World Rebirth has made it to another major box office milestone. The soft reboot movie revived the Jurᴀssic World series after a three-year hiatus. This time, it stars Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey as researchers looking to extract dinosaur DNA in order to help make a medical breakthrough.

The previous trilogy received mixed reviews, but were all huge box office hits. Jurᴀssic World Dominion, for example, has just a 29% Tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes, but ended up grossing over $1 billion. This put pressure on Jurᴀssic World Rebirth to perform, especially during a busy summer that also included multiple superhero film releases.

As per The Numbers, Jurᴀssic World Rebirth has officially made it past another box office milestone, even after a long time in theaters. The film has now officially pᴀssed the $800 million mark. Comprising this total is $326.9 million domestically and $473.4 million from international markets, for a $800.3 million total.

What This Box Office Milestone Means For Jurᴀssic World Rebirth

This milestone also comes after Jurᴀssic World Rebirth was released on VOD. The film became available to purchase on at-home platforms starting on Aug. 5. This development means reduced theatrical showtimes and typically lower ticket sales due to at-home availability.

The fact that it was still able to cross the $800 million mark despite its digital availability is a testament to how successful Rebirth has been. This will likely be the last theatrical milestone the movie hits, but its lasting success also makes it likely that the film will see significant VOD sales and, eventually, pull strong streaming numbers.

Overall, this makes Rebirth a successful entry in the Jurᴀssic World series. While all three of the previous movies made over $1 billion, pulling $800 million is still fairly impressive given its compeтιтive release window and its status as a reboot.

Another thing to consider when evaluating Jurᴀssic World Rebirth‘s success is its budget. The film was made for an estimated $180 million, which, while substantial, is lower than what was reported for Dominion. This gave Rebirth a little more room for profit margin. With $800 million, it has made back its money and more.

This is a good sign for the future of the Jurᴀssic franchise. While a Jurᴀssic World Rebirth sequel has yet to be officially announced, another installment seems fairly inevitable at this point. This most recent milestone could give the next movie the push it needs to head further towards the development phase.
