Ranking MCU Post-Credits Scenes Post-Endgame by Importance

It’s no secret that MCU’s post-credits scenes after Avengers: Endgame are all over the place. In the collection of films that have been released since the last Avengers movie, more post-credit scenes have yet to be paid off than you might think. However, more recent additions are pretty important for the overall Multiverse Saga and its future.

Beginning with Spider-Man: Far From Home, the MCU has released 15 films since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. Likewise, each movie has featured one or more of the traditional MCU post-credits scenes, teeing up future installments and even MCU shows. With that in mind, here is every MCU movie released since Avengers: Endgame, ranked based on the importance of their post-credits scenes.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Lizard Kang screaming in the crowd as part of the Council of Kangs in Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania

Once upon a time, the post-credits scene for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania would have been at the top of this list.

Featuring the Council of Kangs and its triumvirate of leaders, all played by actor Jonathan Majors, this critical scene would have served as a major setup for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. However, the MCU has since pivoted to Doctor Doom and Avengers: Doomsday. Likewise, the movie’s second post-credits scene is simply a scene taken straight from Loki season 2.

ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine

Gambit in ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine's deleted post-credits scene

ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine’s post-credits scene is primarily just a joke, confirming that ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool wasn’t lying about all the horrible things Chris Evans’ Johnny Storm said about Cᴀssandra Nova, replaying the scenes on the TVA’s monitors. However, one of the smaller monitors does confirm that Channing Tatum’s Gambit is still alive and has since been confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday.

13

Eternals

Kit Harrington with his Sword from Eternals and Mahershala Ali's Blade

It’s highly doubtful that Harry Styles’ Eros will ever be seen again outside Eternals‘ first post-credits scene. Likewise, the second post-credits scene does feature Mahershala Ali’s Blade speaking with Dane Whitman off-screen, though the MCU’s future Blade movie has undergone so many rewrites it’s equally doubtful that he’ll still have a connection to the future Black Knight.

12

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Not unlike Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the post-credits scene for 2021’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings seemingly sets up a future plotline where the origin of the Ten Rings would have somehow been connected to Kang.

However, the scene does serve as Shang-Chi’s first encounter with the Avengers, and the second post-credits scene featuring his sister taking over the Ten Rings organization may or may not be paid off whenever we finally get a sequel.

11

Thor: Love and Thunder

One of Thor: Love and Thunder’s post-credits scenes confirms Jane Foster made it into the Norse afterlife of Valhalla. The other post-credits scene saw Russell Crowe’s Zeus commanding his son Hercules (played by Brett Goldstein) to get revenge on Thor. However, there’s been zero indication as to when or where we might see Goldstein’s Hercules again.

10

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s single post-credits scene confirmed that T’Challa and Nakia had a son before he died.

Also named T’Challa, it remains to be seen if we’ll see the son of the MCU’s first Black Panther again, though a third Black Panther movie is confirmed to be in development with director Ryan Coogler. The movie will also introduce Denzel Washington to the MCU in a currently undisclosed role.

9

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

The first post-credits scene for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 debuted the new Guardians roster under the leadership of Rocket Raccoon.

As such, it’s possible that this new team of cosmic heroes could be featured either in Avengers: Doomsday and/or Avengers: Secret Wars. The same is true for Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord, who was confirmed to return in the MCU’s future thanks to the second post-credits scene, despite having returned to Earth to reunite with his grandfather.

8

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Clea and Doctor Strange on the street in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

The final post-credits scene in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was just a gag featuring Bruce Campbell’s Pizza Poppa.

However, the first post-credits scene showcases Doctor Strane’s first encounter with Clea (played by Charlize Theron). Recruiting Strange to deal with an incursion located in the Dark Dimension, it’s expected that this new crisis will be paid off either in the next two Avengers films, or in the third Doctor Strange movie that’s currently in development.

7

Spider-Man: No Way Home

Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock Venom in Spider-Man No Way Home

Spider-Man: No Way Home’s post-credits scene featured Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock/Venom, who was similarly displaced from his reality like all the other villains in the third MCU Spider-Man movie. However, Eddie and Venom remained in Mexico until they were sent back. Likewise, this post-credits scene was indeed paid off in 2024’s Venom: The Last Dance.

6

Black Widow

Valentina speaking to Yelena Belova in Black Widow

2020’s Black Widow features a single post-credits scene where Yelena Belova first meets Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. Offering her a mission to take down Hawkeye, this post-credits scene not only sets up 2021’s Hawkeye series, but also marks the beginning of Val’s future appearances in the MCU, leading up to her primary antagonist role in 2025’s Thunderbolts*.
