Walton Goggins’ Cameo Was Cut From Quentin Tarantino’s 86% RT Classic

Walton Goggins had a cameo role in a Quentin Tarantino movie, but it didn’t end up appearing in the theatrical release of the film and was saved for the extended edition. Goggins has worked with Tarantino more than once, with significant roles in Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight.

While Goggins’ most famous roles have come on television shows like The Shield, Justified, Fallout, The Righteous Gemstones, and The White Lotus, he has also had some extensive movie roles. In addition to his work in Tarantino’s movies, Goggins has appeared in the Predator and the MCU franchises.

Walton Goggins has become an in-demand actor over the past decade, and Quentin Tarantino called on him one more time for his last movie in 2019. However, Goggins’ performance was cut out of the main film, and only appears as a voice role in the extended cut.

Walton Goggins Has A Voice Cameo In Once Upon A Time In Hollywood

Released in 2019, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood stars Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio as a stuntman and an actor in Hollywood during the 1960s. Tarantino called on several of his regular actors to appear in the movie, including some in minor cameo roles. Walton Goggins got one of these roles.

Goggins appeared in a television commercial that played during the movie. His commercial was for Old Chattanooga Beer. The commercial itself was going to play sometime in the film, likely either on a television in the background or with Rick Dalton (DiCaprio) as an actor in the commercial. However, Tarantino cut it from the film.

Old Chattanooga Beer was the drink of choice for both Rick Dalton and Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt), and they were seen drinking it in the film more than once. As for his performance, Goggins uses an exaggerated Southern accent, and it plays out similar to Coors Beer commercials. Fans can see this deleted scene on the Blu-ray.

Walton Goggins Isn’t The Only Actor Added To The Film’s Extended Cut

Walton Goggins wasn’t the only actor to have a cameo in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and then get cut out of the movie. Just like Goggins, Tarantino also signed James Marsden (Sonic the Hedgehog) to film a fake commercial for the movie. Marsden’s cut commercial was also a major Quentin Tarantino Easter egg.

Marsden’s commercial was for Red Apple cigarettes, a fictional brand the director invented for his movies. This brand was referenced in Pulp Fiction (Mia Wallace smoked them), From Dusk Till Dawn, Kill Bill, Death Proof, Inglourious Basterds, and even The Hateful Eight.

In Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Rick Dalton even appeared in a commercial for them in an end credits scene. In James Marsden’s commercial, he appears as a young Burt Reynolds, endorsing these cigarettes. Once again, it can only be seen on the Blu-ray of the movie as a deleted scene.
