In Case You Missed It, Brad Pitt’s $552 Million Blockbuster Is Back In Its Ideal Format

You may have missed it, but Brad Pitt’s $552 million blockbuster is now back in theaters in its perfect format. While some 2025 movies deserved better at the box office, there are several that have become success stories. One of the year’s biggest blockbusters just became available on digital, despite still holding strong numbers in theaters.

Beyond that, the superhero genre has seen success in the form of James Gunn’s Superman. This is also without mentioning the exciting 2025 horror movies, like Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, that proved to be a hit with theater audiences. Then there are the ever-successful live-action remakes of Disney classics, with even Dreamworks getting in on that act in 2025.

Alongside all of these, though, is the eighth-highest-grossing movie of 2025 thus far. Starring Brad Pitt, the movie in question has earned $552 million, with an IMAX re-release allowing the blockbuster to be seen once more in its ideal theatrical format.

F1: The Movie Is Now Playing In IMAX Theaters Again

F1: The Movie has been re-released in IMAX theaters as of August 8, 2025, with the film looking to add to the success it has already found this year. F1 has already become Brad Pitt’s highest-grossing movie ever, surpᴀssing 2013’s World War Z. Now, audiences can see F1 once again in select IMAX screenings, just as the movie was intended to be viewed.

Of the $552 million F1: The Movie has earned globally, $85 million has come from IMAX screens. As per Variety, this accounted for 23% of its domestic opening and 19% of its worldwide debut. Evidently, F1 resonated well with audiences in the IMAX format, likely prompting Apple Studios to make the decision on a re-release.

While it remains to be seen exactly how successful F1: The Movie will be with its IMAX re-release, it is clear that the studio hopes audiences will rush to the theater once more. This is proven by the plans to launch even more IMAX screenings for F1: The Movie on August 15, 2025.

The movie has already been a commercial success, but this IMAX re-release could push it even further into profitability. This is also without mentioning the strong reaction to the film from critics and fans alike.

F1 currently holds an 82% critic approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with the audience score sitting at a staggering 97%. Clearly, the age-old formula for sports movies still has its appeal, with a talented filmmaker like Joseph Kosinski and a strong cast only elevating this.

With audiences proving to love F1: The Movie this much, it would not be a surprise to see the IMAX re-release become a success. With the only wide releases of August 8 being Freakier Friday and Weapons, F1 will seemingly hold most IMAX screens. With that in mind, Brad Pitt’s $552 million hit could become an even bigger one.
