Jamie Lee Curtis’ New Legacy Movie Sets Multiple Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score Records

Few actresses can claim a career as varied as Jamie Lee Curtis, whose legacy continues to evolve with every new project. Though widely ᴀssociated with horror, particularly her iconic role as Laurie Strode in the Halloween franchise, Curtis has never allowed one genre to define her, also carving out a unique space for herself in comedy.

Curtis made a powerful entry into film with 1978’s Halloween, directed by John Carpenter. Her portrayal of Laurie Strode quickly made her a household name and a horror icon. Across six sequels, she shaped the archetype of the “final girl,” returning in 2022’s Halloween Ends to conclude a character arc spanning decades.

Beyond horror, Curtis’ best performances have come in comedy. She brought sharp wit to Trading Places (1983), electrified audiences in James Cameron’s True Lies (1994), and reached new heights with Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022), which won her an Academy Award. However, her comedic brilliance is perhaps most fully realized in Freaky Friday (2003), and its new legacy sequel.

Freakier Friday Sets Multiple Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score Records

Freakier Friday has set multiple records with its audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. A sequel to 2003’s Freaky Friday, the new film brings back both Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan as mother-daughter duo Tess and Anna Coleman, who, two decades later, find themselves in a four-way body swap with Tess’ teenage daughter and her soon-to-be stepdaughter.

In addition to Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, Freakier Friday‘s cast also includes Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Rosalind Chao, Ryan Malgarini, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Lucille Soong reprising their roles from the first film. Julia ʙuттers (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), Sophia Hammon, and Manny Jacinto also join the cast.

Now, on the day of its theatrical release, Freakier Friday has debuted with a 94% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, the highest of both Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan’s careers. The film only has 250+ verified ratings at the time of writing, so its audience score is subject to change. It currently has a 73% score from critics with 136 reviews.
