The arrival of Franklin Richards in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has stirred up discussions about his powers compared to the Scarlet Witch’s, but there is only one right answer in this debate. As much as the Multiverse Saga has drastically shifted the balance of power in the MCU, only a few can compete for the top spot.
America Chavez punched holes in the Multiverse, Loki became the God of Stories and a protector of the Multiverse, and Sentry was created to be the greatest hero on Earth. However, it seems clear that characters like Wanda Maximoff as the Scarlet Witch possess far greater raw strength.
Franklin Richards’ MCU Debut Cements Who Wins The Scarlet Witch Vs Franklin Richards Power Debate
Despite the Scarlet Witch having the power to repel Thanos and utterly devastate the Illuminati, a group consisting of Mister Fantastic, Professor X, Captain Carter, Black Bolt, and Captain Marvel, her powers pale in comparison to one of the newest arrivals in the MCU: Franklin Richards.
This infant, who was born during the events of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, was revealed to possess the Power Cosmic by Galactus, but his powers did not come to the fore until the film’s final act. When his mother, Sue Storm, lay dying after saving the MCU’s Earth-828 from Galactus, Franklin was able to bring her back to life.
Now, while Wanda was able to create a version of her beloved Vision and even two children, Wanda’s powers only worked within the limitations of a town she took over. And it’s taken decades for her to reach this level of power. Franklin innately possesses power beyond anything ever seen in the MCU.
Franklin Richards & Scarlet Witch’s Powers Are Still Both Immense
Franklin’s full potential remains unclear in the MCU, but if it is anything like the comics, and it appears to be, First Steps is just the beginning. In Marvel Comics, Franklin is an Omega-level mutant who can literally rewrite reality, and create entire worlds and dimensions at will.
On the other hand, the Scarlet Witch is the living embodiment of Chaos Magic in the MCU, which also grants her the power to change reality. While she may not be able to perform on the same scale as Franklin, her abilities are nothing short of spectacular.
However, the MCU has a lot more ground to cover when it comes to Franklin’s powers, and with the Scarlet Witch confirmed to be ᴅᴇᴀᴅ in the MCU, how powerful these characters are compared to each other may not matter. Still, it will be interesting to see if the MCU provides a more concrete example of Franklin’s power in the future.
