Brad Pitt’s New Record-Breaking Movie Pᴀsses A Major Box Office Milestone

F1 The Movie has sped past another major box office milestone. The new Formula 1 racing movie, which was sH๏τ on real racetracks and directed by Top Gun: Maverick‘s Joseph Kosinski, features a star-studded cast that includes Brad Pitt, Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, and Damson Idris.

The F1 The Movie release kicked off on June 27, taking in a solid domestic opening weekend gross of $57 million. Since then, its cumulative worldwide gross has risen past $550 million, making it Apple Studios’ highest-grossing theatrical release, in addition to becoming the highest-grossing movie of all time starring Brad Pitt in the lead role.

Per The Numbers, F1 The Movie took in an additional $575,000 at the domestic box office on August 6 during the waning days of its theatrical run. This has pushed its cumulative domestic gross to $175.3 million, making it only the 11th movie of 2025 to pᴀss the $175 million domestic milestone.

F1 The Movie has left the next highest-grossing domestic movie of the year in the dust. That тιтle is the horror sequel Final Destination Bloodlines, which only grossed $138.1 million domestically, falling considerably short of the $150 million milestone, let alone hitting $175 million.

What This Means For F1 The Movie

While 2025’s F1 The Movie is Brad Pitt’s highest-grossing movie in which he plays a lead role worldwide, it is only his fourth highest-grossing at the domestic box office. It continues to trail behind Ocean’s Eleven ($183.4 million domestic), Mr. and Mrs. Smith ($186.3 million), and World War Z ($202.7 million).

This is because its international grosses are much higher than its domestic haul, hitting a whopping total of $377.8 million at the time of writing. This is far from unexpected, considering the fact that Formula 1 is a global brand that is historically more popular in Europe and other international territories than it is in the United States.

Our Take On The F1 The Movie Milestone

Ultimately, it seems unlikely that the F1 The Movie box office will be able to climb any higher up the chart of the star’s highest-grossing outings in the domestic marketplace. It would have to earn another $8.1 million in order to outgross Ocean’s Eleven, which may not be within its power as it enters its seventh weekend in theaters.

However, hitting the $175 million milestone is still a remarkable achievement for F1 The Movie. Not only is it one of few Brad Pitt movies to have done so, it far outstrips his next highest-grossing movies, which are the animated feature Megamind ($148.4 million domestic) and Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood ($142.5 million).
