I’m Heartbroken This Actor-Director Reunion Fell Apart After 22 Years Of Waiting

Will Smith and Michael Bay were finally set to reunite in an all-new movie after years of being apart, and while I was incredibly excited, my dreams have just been crushed. Behind-the-scenes issues have affected their new Netflix action movie, leading to some mᴀssive changes.

Michael Bay’s feature film debut was 1995’s Bad Boys, the buddy cop action movie starring Smith. This film helped launch Smith out of the world of television and into the realm of movie stardom, cementing the actor and director duo as a fantastic pair. Bay also directed Smith in Bad Boys II, proving that they could again create an incredible blockbuster.

Unfortunately, the duo hasn’t collaborated since then. While the Bad Boys franchise has continued, it has been without Bay in the director’s chair. Instead, he has focused on franchises like Transformers and original movies like Ambulance, while Smith has been busy with blockbusters like Men in Black, Aladdin, and more.

Michael Bay’s Fast & Loose Exit Dashes Hopes Of A Bay-Smith Reunion

Martin Lawrence, Will Smith, and Michael Bay on Bad Boys set

After over a decade since their last collaboration, Bay and Smith were finally set to reunite on the Netflix film Fast and Loose. The movie would have starred Smith as a man who wakes up in Tijuana with no memories. He discovers that he has been living a double life as a CIA agent and as a crime boss, leading to an action-packed adventure.

Unfortunately, this reunion will no longer be happening. Bay has exited Fast & Loose, leaving the Netflix film without a director. This exit is reportedly the result of creative differences between the actor and filmmaker, with Smith wanting to focus more on the script’s comedic moments and Bay zeroing in on the action.

These conflicting interests were apparently irreconcilable, and Netflix is now looking for a new director in order to meet the film’s October shoot dates. This is a tragic falling out for fans of the Bad Boys franchise, as this reunion could have been the perfect spiritual successor to the original duology. As Smith continues his Hollywood comeback, collaborating again with Bay could’ve returned him to his roots.

Now, there is no reason to believe that a different Smith and Bay collaboration will come anytime soon. Nothing has been announced to be in the works, and their Fast and Loose disagreements could hinder chances of any future projects together. While Fast and Loose could be great, it is a shame that Will Smith and Michael Bay won’t be working on it together.
