If I Had Legs I’d Kick You Trailer Reveals First Look At A24’s New Movie With 93% Rotten Tomatoes Score

A new trailer has been released for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. Written and directed by Mary Bronstein, the movie focuses on a woman named Linda who has to navigate a litany of unfortunate events, including her absentee husband, her child’s mysterious illness, a missing person, and a frustrating therapist.

The movie stars Rose Byrne in the lead role and Conan O’Brien as her therapist. Director Bronstein also plays a character; the rest of the cast includes A$AP Rocky, Delaney Quinn, Danielle Macdonald, and Christian Slater. If I had Legs I’d Kick You premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and is now set for wide release in October.

Ahead of this, A24 has dropped the trailer for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. From the very first frames, Linda cannot get even one moment of peace. Even while she is going to the bathroom, her child calls out to her to tell her there is water in the bathroom.

To hopefully manage her stress, Linda goes to a therapist, but is frustrated when he does not respond to her email about her dream. She copes through methods such as screaming into pillows and flipping off other drivers amid road rage, all the while her therapist urges her to simply get a good night’s sleep.

What This Means For If I Had Legs I’d Kick You

If I Had Legs I’d Kick You already has positive reviews to its name. After playing for select crowds at the Sundance Film Festival and the Berlin International Film Festival this year, If I Had Legs I’d Kick You has earned a 93% Rotten Tomatoes score from the 41 critics who have reviewed it.

One of the positive reviews comes from ScreenRant‘s Mae Abdulbaki, who gave the movie 8 out of 10 stars and called it a “dynamic watch.” She went so far as to note thatto say Rose Byrne’s performance is phenomenal would be an understatement,” and ScreenRant predicted that Byrne would get a Best Actress nomination come Oscars time.

This trailer makes it clear the mᴀssive legwork (so to speak) that Byrne underwent for this film. She plays a mother whose life is falling apart around her, while desperately putting up the facade that she has things together. The film is very focused on her psyche, making it a hefty acting challenge.

Our Take On The If I Had Legs I’d Kick You Trailer

Conan O'Brien in If I Had Legs I'd Kick You

I was only vaguely aware of this Sundance movie previously, but the trailer has gotten me psyched about this project. Even in the few scenes shown here, Byrne looks fantastic in the role; I totally buy the hype about her. The movie seems to turn a suburban story into a thriller in the best way, building on the excitement surrounding If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.
