Spider-Man 4 Set Video Finally Reveals Tom Holland’s Web-Swinging In The City

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is filming, and a new set video reveals the first look at the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie’s web-swinging. A few details are important to all live-action Spider-Man movies, no matter if they are set in the MCU or their own universes, as was the case for Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s versions of Spider-Man.

The suit has to be exciting, with the classic red and blue color scheme consistently hitting the mark for the most comics-accurate Spider-Man movie suits. Peter Parker’s characterization and the wall-crawler’s powers also need to be on point. For the most part, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man movies have succeeded in those areas, but the web-swinging has been lacking. Maybe not anymore.

On X, @Logan8885_ shared a new Spider-Man: Brand New Day set video that shows Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in a practical web-swinging scene. The footage is the first to show Spider-Man high in the skies in the new MCU movie. It appears to come from a chase sequence, with Spider-Man swinging after an armored vehicle seen in previous MCU set pH๏τos.

What The Spider-Man: Brand New Day Web-Swinging Set Video Means

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the first MCU Spider-Man movie to be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. The franchise’s previous director, Jon Watts, once told Collider that “it doesn’t look good when someone is just swinging on a rope.” The MCU Spider-Man trilogy director claimed that his advice to the next Spider-Man director would be not to waste their time on it.

Judging by the Spider-Man: Brand New Day set video, Cretton has decided to go for the practical web-swinging, which should make the action in Tom Holland’s next Spider-Man movie look and feel fresh in relation to the MCU Spider-Man franchise so far. That suits the director’s style, as Cretton’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings used many practical set pieces.

The action in the Shang-Chi movie is among the best in MCU films and TV shows. Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man franchise has long been praised for having the best live-action web-swinging scenes for Spider-Man. Famously, the practical approach was taken for key moments, and it could now work well for Holland’s Marvel hero.

Our Take On The Spider-Man: Brand New Day Web-Swinging Set Video

It’s thrilling that the MCU’s next Spider-Man movie is trying a different approach to a key part of the character’s powers. After all, the web-swinging of Holland’s Spider-Man franchise was one of its most criticized elements. As such, the practical approach could help liven it up, making the hero’s action sequences more exciting and visually distinct when compared to the trilogy.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day, as its name suggests, has been described by Tom Holland as a fresh start for Peter Parker. With its use of practical web-swinging, the upcoming MCU movie can further distinguish itself from what has come before in Holland’s franchise. With The Punisher and the Hulk also in the Spider-Man movie, Marvel keeps adding exciting elements to the equation.
