Tom Holland’s New Spider-Man Suit Design Is A Disappointment For 1 Key Reason

A new suit design for Spider-Man: Brand New Day is certainly thrilling, but also disappointing for one specific reason. A teaser for the MCU’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day was shared on the official Spider-Man movie X account, SpiderManMovie. While it looks great, there’s one thing that is frustrating after Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The Spider-Man: Brand New Day post includes close-up glimpses of Spider-Man’s new suit, accompanied by the tagline “Something brand new is coming…” The teaser doesn’t fully reveal the full design, but it clearly shows a red suit with raised webbing. This echoes Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man suit from the Raimi trilogy but with an MCU timeline spin.

Spider-Man: No Way Home’s Ending Suit Deserved More Time In The MCU

The ending of No Way Home featured a bold, emotional reset. Peter Parker lost everything (his friends, his mentors, his idenтιтy) and started over with a hand-sтιтched, comic-accurate red and blue suit that felt deeply personal. It symbolized a Peter Parker who no longer relied on Stark tech, government agencies, or magic.

The homemade design was a powerful visual metaphor: stripped down, self-made, and ready to become the Spider-Man we’ve always known from the comics. Annoyingly, the new Brand New Day teaser already hints at that suit being phased out. The teased costume appears darker, with no visible blue, and includes raised webbing, which wasn’t present in the No Way Home version.

While it’s visually impressive and clearly influenced by prior film iterations, it undercuts the impact of the DIY suit introduced just one movie ago. The red and blue suit represented years of MCU storytelling reaching a full-circle moment. Not giving it more time on screen feels like rushing past one of the most significant milestones in Holland’s Spider-Man arc.

Will Tom Holland’s Red And Blue Spider-Man Suit Return In Brand New Day?

It’s still possible that the No Way Home suit will appear in Brand New Day – perhaps during the opening scenes before Peter upgrades or alters his look. This is a common trope in the MCU’s Spider-Man appearances. He has upgraded or downgraded in Spider-Man Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Avengers: Infinity War and No Way Home.

It’s unclear why Spider-Man has a new suit. Yet it evidently marks a development in his arc. Indeed, No Way Home was such a deliberate reset that the final suit didn’t just represent a costume change; it was a shift in idenтιтy.

The suit represented his move into street-level heroics, a trend many hoped would last into the next movie. If the red and blue suit only exists for a few brief moments before being swapped out again, it could help transition Spider-Man into the next phase of his heroic career. Regardless, it seems the suit will be retired in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
