Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein Images Sneak A Better Look At Jacob Elordi’s Monster In New Netflix Movie

New images from Guillermo del Toro’s version of Frankenstein have been revealed. The Shape of Water director is taking on the classic Mary Shelley text of the same name. His version will feature Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi as his monster.

The supporting cast includes Mia Goth, Charles Dance, Christoph Waltz, Burn Gorman, David Bradley, Felix Kammerer, and Christian Convery. The monster horror film is expected to run around two-and-a-half hours and be distributed by Netflix. It is slated for release in November.

As per Vanity Fair, new images from Frankenstein have been revealed, including a look at Elordi’s monster. The images include some startling peeks at the scenery, including del Toro speaking with Isaac as he examines a cadaver prop. Another sH๏τ shows Waltz on a shadowy staircase.

Part of Elordi’s face is seen in the image of his monster character. In another sH๏τ, he examines a picture, which obscures his face. Goth’s character Elizabeth is also shown in more detail. Check out the images below:

What This Means For Frankenstein

The Monster Is Still A Mystery

The Frankenstein trailer did not reveal the full look of Elordi’s monster character. While it established him as a dominating physical presence with violent tendencies, it obscured his face from audiences. These images show the first look at Elordi’s face in the role, though still, he is partially hidden.

The second image is even more deliberate in how it obscures the monster’s features. In it, Elordi holds up a picture in front of his face. The creature’s long hair can be seen, but the only skin he shows are his hands and a bit of his forehead. This leaves a lot still to be revealed in Frankenstein.

The images also reveal some of Frankenstein‘s exceptional costume work. This is particularly witnessed through Goth, who plays Elizabeth, Victor’s fiancée in the book. Goth is seen wearing lavish and vibrantly colored clothing.

Our Take On The Frankenstein Images

The Technical Qualities Look Stunning

These Frankenstein images show the power of the film’s technical elements. This is a good sign for the film’s potential to get Oscar nominations. Even if it misses out on big categories such as Best Picture or Best Director, it could succeed in craft categories like Best Production Design or Best Costume Design.

Narratively, del Toro and his team are smart to keep obscuring the monster’s full face. The film is premiering at the Venice Film Festival soon, so more and more about the film is likely to come out within the next few weeks, including descriptions of Elordi’s monster. The longer they can keep fans guessing, however, the more intrigue will be created surrounding Frankenstein.
