Bambi: The Reckoning Sequel Chances Addressed By Director As Franchise Gears Up For Avengers-Level Crossover

Bambi: The Reckoning director Dan Allen addresses a potential sequel, ahead of the Avengers-style crossover. The Twisted Childhood Universe, known mainly for Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, continues reimagining beloved characters. The latest entry, depicting a gruesome version of Bambi, a Life in the Woods, premiered on July 25.

The horror movie, produced by Rhys Frake-Waterfield of Blood and Honey fame, centers on a grieving deer who becomes violent and pursues humans after his mother is killed. The cast of Bambi: The Reckoning includes Roxanne McKee, Tom Mulheron, Samira Mighty, Nicola Wright, and Russell Geoffrey Banks.

In an interview with ScreenRant’s Grant Hermanns, Allen addressed a possible Bambi: The Reckoning sequel. Despite ideas about potential kill scenes, Allen explained that a sequel has not been discussed because of the timeframe surrounding Bambi: The Reckoning.

Since the Poohniverse: Monsters ᴀssemble crossover is being prepared, he teased that sequel discussions could happen, but may not necessarily be confirmed so soon. Read his comments below:

No. Actually, a couple of times we’ve come up with some silly kills, some silly ways for Bambi to kill people. But besides that, not really, simply because we filmed this last January, and it’s still not out yet, all the others have been such тιԍнт turnarounds. So, once this comes out, I think maybe we’ll start having that conversation. But I know that the focus, because I’m involved in Pinocchio, as well, I’m editing that with Rhys, is on Poohniverse, so maybe the conversations will continue happening. But they’re more like chats over a cup of tea than they are sort of sit down, “Let’s make it happen” at this stage.

What This Means For Bambi: The Reckoning

A Bambi Sequel May Not Be Ruled Out

Beyond Blood and Honey, the slasher franchise has released a Peter Pan adaptation, and Pinocchio: Unstrung is on the way. Because the Poohniverse has quickly expanded, it makes sense that a sequel is not top of mind but, should Bambi: The Reckoning become as popular as some other installments, audiences may want to see more of the grisly deer.

While not a sequel, Bambi will return in Poohniverse: Monsters ᴀssemble, which unites all the Twisted Childhood Universe characters. Details surrounding the movie and Bambi’s role remain unknown. However, Scott Chambers, who appeared in Blood and Honey 2 and directed Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, revealed in January that the crossover was aiming to film this summer.

Early reactions to Bambi: The Reckoning seem mixed, but a sequel cannot be easily ruled out. Based on the comments from Allen, another Bambi movie may be unlikely to happen right away, although commercial success and standout moments in Monsters ᴀssemble could lead the film series to circle back.

Our Take On A Bambi: The Reckoning Sequel

It Would Not Be The First Poohniverse Film To Earn One

There is interest in the Poohniverse, particularly among genre fans, so it will be interesting to see what becomes of Bambi. Should a sequel to Bambi: The Reckoning eventually get made, it could go on to be as favored as Blood and Honey, which released a follow-up last year.

In the meantime, Poohniverse: Monsters ᴀssemble should be an exciting installment, where audiences can experience Bambi alongside other notable franchise additions, and perhaps get an idea of what else he can do in another movie.
