Iranian Missiles Bombard U.S. Fighter Jet Base In Stunning Strike In Gulf Amid War.lh

In a daring and highly coordinated ᴀssault on day 18 of the 2026 Iran war, Iranian forces have launched a mᴀssive missile and drone barrage directly targeting Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates — one of America’s most critical fighter jet hubs in the Persian Gulf.

Al Dhafra, home to advanced U.S. fighter squadrons including F-35 Lightning II stealth jets, came under heavy fire as Iranian ballistic missiles and cruise missiles slammed into aircraft shelters, maintenance hangars, and logistics facilities. Explosions rocked the base, sending thick columns of smoke into the sky and temporarily disrupting flight operations from this key forward operating location that has supported U.S. and coalition airpower across the region.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed the strikes severely degraded the base’s operational capacity, targeting the very platforms used to launch recent attacks against Iranian positions. UAE air defenses intercepted several incoming threats, but multiple impacts were confirmed, adding to the growing list of direct hits on American installations.

This latest strike forms part of Iran’s widening retaliation, now stretching deep into its third week. Iranian missiles and drones have repeatedly hammered U.S. and allied sites across Qatar’s Al Udeid Air Base, Bahrain’s Sheikh Isa Air Base, and facilities in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Iraq. U.S. Central Command reports that nearly 200 American troops have been injured since the conflict erupted, with the majority suffering minor wounds but 13 confirmed U.S. deaths overall.

President Donald Trump has acknowledged the unexpected intensity of Iran’s response, admitting the U.S. was caught off guard by the scale and reach of the counterattacks. The strikes have also disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, pushing Brent crude oil prices above $100 per barrel and triggering rising fuel costs worldwide.

As drone swarms and missile exchanges continue, the human and strategic costs are mounting rapidly. Iran has demonstrated its ability to strike high-value U.S. ᴀssets in the Gulf, challenging American dominance in a region vital to global energy security.

The situation remains extremely fluid with both sides engaged in high-intensity operations. Further escalation appears likely as the war reshapes alliances and tests military resolve across the Middle East.
