Jurᴀssic World Rebirth Avoided A Shocking Reveal That Would’ve Shaken Up The Franchise

Jurᴀssic World Rebirth is a major expansion of the Jurᴀssic World series, but it did manage to avoid one reveal that would have shaken the foundation of the Jurᴀssic Park franchise. After the Jurᴀssic Park and Jurᴀssic World trilogies, Jurᴀssic World Rebirth set out to start a new one, featuring an all-new story with an all-new cast of Jurᴀssic World characters.

Jurᴀssic World Rebirth follows a team of dinosaur smugglers who are living in the dino-infested aftermath of Jurᴀssic World Dominion. The team is tasked with heading to a test site that was used when developing the original Jurᴀssic Park where they must steal DNA from three of the island’s biggest dinosaurs.

When compared to the other Jurᴀssic Park movies, the story of Jurᴀssic World Rebirth was surprisingly simple. The characters have a straightforward task and the story sees them carrying out that task without many major developments or changes. However, this potential Jurᴀssic World reveal would have changed this entirely.

Jurᴀssic World Rebirth Was Theorized To Finally Include A Human-Dinosuar Hybrid

After Years Of Rumors

After years of speculation, it was theorized that Jurᴀssic World Rebirth was finally going to include a human-dinosaur hybrid. The idea of human-dinosaur hybrids has been thrown around for decades, as splicing the DNA of dinosaurs with other animals has been core to the franchise since the 1993 original.

When developing an early version of Jurᴀssic Park 4, concept art for human-dinosaur hybrids was made, with these concepts making the rounds on the internet. This Jurᴀssic Park 4 pitch was never picked up, with the franchise instead being revived with 2015’s Jurᴀssic World. However, human-dinosaur hybrids never left the minds of Jurᴀssic Park fans.

Jurᴀssic World: Fallen Kingdom and Jurᴀssic World Dominion introduced human clones to the franchise, revealing that humans could be recreated using the same technology implemented on dinosaurs. So, it seemed that human-dinosaur hybrids were only one step away, and that final leap could have been made in Jurᴀssic World Rebirth.

In the lead-up to Jurᴀssic World Rebirth, details were being held close to Universal’s chest, with some fans theorizing that this was because hybrids were finally going to show up in the film. While new types of mutated dinosaurs are seen in Jurᴀssic World Rebirth, none of these dinosaurs have been merged with humans, meaning that the human-dinosaur hybrids are still not canon.

A Human-Dinosaur Hybrid Twist Would Completely Change The Jurᴀssic Franchise

After Jurᴀssic World: Fallen Kingdom’s Clone Storyline

Adding human-dinosaur hybrids into the Jurᴀssic Park would change it forever, unleashing a new era of the Jurᴀssic saga. This addition would finally merge the dinosaur and human cloning storylines, bringing all the branches of the Jurᴀssic Park franchise together. This Jurᴀssic World: Fallen Kingdom storyline was dropped in Rebirth, but the hybrid storyline is the perfect way to bring it back.

On top of that, it would finally develop on the dinosaurs in a unique way. The Jurᴀssic World franchise has introduced new types of dinosaurs that didn’t actually exist, such as the Indominus rex and the Distortus rex. While these monsters look strange, they aren’t all that different from the T. rex, as they still just have the primal urge to eat things.

Human-dinosaur hybrids, however, would be a fundamental change from the other dinosaurs. If their appearance takes more after dinosaurs, they could have human intelligence, making them far more capable than the other dinosaurs in the park. This would be horrifying, as a dinosaur with the intelligence of a human could be an incredible antagonist.

On the other hand, if the hybrids were more human, they could have dinosaur senses or strengths. This could tie back into the militarized dinosaur storyline from 2015’s Jurᴀssic World, as a human with the strength of a dinosaur could make for an incredible soldier.

There are all kinds of possibilities for how human-dinosaur hybrids could affect the franchise. However, once they are introduced, there is no going back.

Will The Jurᴀssic Movies Ever Do The Human-Dinosuar Hybrid Reveal?

Or Is It Too Big Of A Leap?

The human-dinosaur hybrid reveal is the biggest leap that the Jurᴀssic Park franchise hasn’t taken yet, but it is an obvious choice to escalate the story and stakes of the series. It opens up a plethora of story opportunities while also acting as a clear marketing gimmick, meaning that it may be done one day.

However, human-dinosaur hybrids are also a huge risk. The reveal could be seen as too ridiculous for some viewers, with running the risk of jumping the shark for the Jurᴀssic Park franchise. There was already a lot of pushback against the Jurᴀssic World trilogy’s clone storyline, and the hybrids go even further than that.

If Jurᴀssic World movies keep getting made, human-dinosaur hybrids seem inevitable. There are only so many new types of dinosaurs that can be introduced to the franchise until it gets stale, and Jurᴀssic World Rebirth may have already reached that point. Since Jurᴀssic World Rebirth proved that mutant dinosaurs aren’t all that interesting, the next film could finally make this leap.
