Dafne Keen Addresses MCU Return After ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine, Would Do “Anything That Brings Me Back”

ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine star Dafne Keen shares her hopes about Laura coming back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For fans of the Fox-Marvel era, Phase 5 of The Multiverse Saga included a special celebration of those films in 2024’s ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine, which introduced several X-Men characters to the MCU franchise.

One of the Fox-Marvel actors to become part of the ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine cast was Keen, who reprised the role of Laura from 2017’s Logan movie. With her character already having fans, Deen’s 2024 return has left audience members wanting to see more of her in the MCU.

While talking about her new upcoming movie, Whistle, with Ash Crossan in ScreenRant’s San Diego Comic-Con 2025 media suite, Keen made it clear that she would love to bring back Laura as soon as possible to the MCU following her appearance in ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine. Check out the full exchange below:

ScreenRant: You were at the Fantastic Four premiere the other night.

Dafne Keen: Yes, I was.

ScreenRant: And really caused a stir. I don’t know if you noticed this.

Dafne Keen: Yeah, random. My friends are sending me it, and I’m like, “Oh. I was just having a night out.”

ScreenRant: Yeah, it’s just like, “Can I have a night out?”

Dafne Keen: It is always so fun whenever I get to go to those things. The movie was great. Everyone’s amazing in it. I get to see all the people that I love and that I’ve worked with and, randomly I guess [they] picked up on it. I don’t know.

ScreenRant: I guess it speaks to how much people want to see that character again, and they’re excited for your future. What do you ideally want to see next?

Dafne Keen: Honestly, anything that brings me back to playing her, I would take. I think she’s some of the most fun I’ve ever had on camera. And, honestly, it’s so special to me that the people love her as much as I did.

I think I did it when I was so young [that] I didn’t realize how much of an impact it had. Then, after last year I’ve really kind of experienced how much impact she had in a way. I think that’s really special and it’s always really exciting to me. Even when people are speculating completely incorrect things about my future in the MCU, I’m always very excited that people are even thinking of me in that capacity.

After initially being stuck in The Void, Keen’s Laura was last seen with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine variant, Wade Wilson, and all his friends at the very end of ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine, after Earth-10005 was saved. As of right now, Marvel Studios hasn’t announced what the plans are for Laura in future MCU projects.

What Dafne Keen’s MCU Return Comments Mean

Even though it’s unclear where Laura will show up next, it’s evident Keen is just as eager to bring back Laura to the MCU as fans are to see her return. Then again, it’s also possible that Keen knows exactly where Laura will be seen next in the MCU timeline, but just can’t share it, as Marvel Studios may want to keep it a surprise for the audience.

With only a few Phase 6 projects lined up, Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars are likely where Keen’s Laura and any other ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine characters could appear in the coming years. Given that The Multiverse Saga will lead to an MCU reset, that could also pave the way for a bigger role for Keen post-Phase 6.

Our Take On Dafne Keen’s MCU Return Comments

X-23 getting her claws out in ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine

Hearing how much Laura means to Keen, it would be a mᴀssive shame if Marvel Studios doesn’t take the opportunity to use Laura more in the MCU, especially given fans have a huge investment in her character. The upcoming X-Men movie reboot could be the perfect project for Keen to be part of in Phase 7.

Keen’s Marvel heroine could easily serve as the new Wolverine for the MCU, especially if Jackman’s Logan doesn’t end up sticking around after The Multiverse Saga. Hopefully, after her well-liked return in ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine, Keen will ideally be back in the MCU sooner rather than later.

Whistle is set to release in 2025.
