If You Love Jenna Ortega Or Paul Rudd, A24’s Fantasy Horror Comedy That’s Now Streaming Is For You

2025 has already been an incredible year for film as a whole, and one project from acclaimed indie studio A24, featuring a pair of very prominent actors, Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd, is now streaming for fans of either of those performers to enjoy.

Paul Rudd has been a Hollywood staple for years now, appearing in tons of projects of all different kinds across his decades-long career, most recently notable for playing Ant-Man in a number of MCU films, including his own trilogy, but he has been a very well-known and well-liked actor since the 90s.

The film’s other star, Jenna Ortega, is the exact opposite, a young newcomer who, after appearing in a number of projects as a child actor, gained mᴀssive notoriety for her role as the тιтular character in Netflix’s Wednesday, and seeing her paired up with Paul Rudd is a treat that fans of either should definitely not miss.

Jenna Ortega & Paul Rudd Headline Death Of Unicorn, Which Is Now Streaming On Max

The A24 Film Used These Two Stars To Great Effect

The movie in question is Death of a Unicorn, which is about Paul Rudd’s character, Elliot, trying to protect his daughter, Ridley, played by Ortega, from the parents of a baby unicorn that the pair accidentally killed while on a weekend trip with Elliot’s boss.

The film was a classic comedy/horror flick, acting as the directorial debut of Alex Scharfman, and Death of a Unicorn‘s cast was rounded out by Will Poulter, Téa Leoni, and Richard E. Grant as Elliot’s boss and his family, who all put on great supporting performances alongside Ortega and Rudd.

The movie had a very fun concept, and while it wasn’t too heavy on the horror, it managed to provide a solid amount of entertainment over the course of its runtime.

While Death of a Unicorn‘s reviews were fairly middling, most of the criticism was directed at some of the writing and storytelling, while the central performances were nearly universally praised as the best parts of the movie, with Rudd and Ortega able to pull something great out of the so-so material.

Despite its problems, the movie was a very fun time, and the performances of Ortega and Rudd were indeed great. The movie had a very fun concept, and while it wasn’t too heavy on the horror, it managed to provide a solid amount of entertainment over the course of its runtime.

Even though Unicorn didn’t do all that well at the box office, its HBO Max release is certainly going to turn some heads, and as more people familiar with Rudd and Ortega are given the opportunity to watch Death of a Unicorn in a more convenient way, the project will likely become much more of a success story than it has been so far.
