Jurᴀssic World Rebirth Box Office Overtakes MCU’s Most Mystical Movie In An All-Time Global Chart

Jurᴀssic World Rebirth has surpᴀssed a major Marvel Cinematic Universe movie at the box office as it continues to ascend the all-time charts. The Gareth Edwards-directed movie was released earlier this month and reboots the beloved dinosaur franchise with a new set of characters.

Though Jurᴀssic World Rebirth earned mixed reviews, leading to a 51% Rotten Tomatoes score, it has proven its might at the box office. After opening to a whopping $318 million globally, the blockbuster has shown some decent legs, even as it faces stiffer compeтιтion from Superman and other summer fare.

Now, Jurᴀssic World Rebirth has pᴀssed another major blockbuster on the all-time PG-13 movies chart. According to The Numbers, the film has earned $676.6 million, which puts it at No. 98 on the list and just squeaks it past 2016’s Doctor Strange. The MCU movie earned $676.3 million during its run.

What This Means For Jurᴀssic World Rebirth’s Box Office

$700 Million Is In Its Sight, But It’ll Be Slowing Down Soon

With a little less than $25 million to go before it grosses $700 million worldwide, Jurᴀssic World Rebirth is poised to cross this milestone and head up the list even further. The movie is about to face even trickier compeтιтion this weekend with the release of Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps, but Rebirth likely has enough gas to rake in a few more millions.

After pᴀssing Doctor Strange, the next тιтles in Rebirth‘s sight are The Hunger Games, Forrest Gump, and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. However, the next Jurᴀssic movie on the list is 2022’s Dominion with $1.004 billion, which is still quite a ways off.

Jurᴀssic World Rebirth has demonstrated some admirable staying power, and its performance suggests many are viewing it just like Doctor Strange, which is to say, it’s almost like a spinoff of a beloved franchise rather than an urgent continuation. With it now approaching the end of its first month of release, Rebirth will likely continue to slow down in the coming weeks.

Our Take On Jurᴀssic World Rebirth’s Box Office

Will It Hit $1 Billion?

Though its predecessors in the Jurᴀssic World franchise all pᴀssed $1 billion, it’s looking less likely that Rebirth will as well. It held up decently well against the release of Superman, but the combined power of the DC blockbuster and Fantastic Four, along with the simple fact that Rebirth‘s been in theaters for close to a month, signal an end to significant grosses.

Still, since it has a $180 million budget, the movie should close out its run with at least a minor profit. Jurᴀssic World Rebirth should clear $700 million in the coming days and beat other movies on the all-time chart; whether it has enough power to get to $800 million remains to be seen, but its post-Fantastic Four performance should give an indication of where it’ll end up.
