The DCU’s Wonder Woman Casting Update Makes The Hero’s Future Look Brighter Than Ever

The latest Wonder Woman casting update from the DC Universe makes the character’s future seem brighter than it ever has been. Wonder Woman’s DCU casting has been a big talking point for a while now, given the hero’s importance to DC Comics alongside Batman and Superman. Superman‘s ending only further increased speculation now that the DC Universe is fully underway.

The DCU’s Wonder Woman movie has also received significant updates in recent weeks, with Supergirl writer Ana Nogueira tapped to write the script and casting soon to begin. Regarding casting, James Gunn has addressed some Wonder Woman rumors of late. Thanks to this specific update, the future of DC’s iconic Amazon seems brighter than ever.

One of the rumors Gunn addressed was a claim that DC Studios is looking for an actor with a more extensive TV resume to play Wonder Woman. This report was said to be akin to the casting process for Supergirl, which saw Milly Alcock cast in the role.

However, Gunn sH๏τ this down on Threads, insisting that he would never limit casting based on whether someone had predominantly appeared in movies, TV, or both. For Gunn, the only thing that matters is the role. As he points out, Alcock was not cast for her cinematic past, but because she was right for the role.

What this makes clear is that DC will search far and wide for the perfect Wonder Woman. The eventual actor’s history in the industry does not matter, with only their alignment with the role of Diana Prince being considered. Above all, this makes the future of the character brighter than ever, all while rendering casting news all the more anticipated.

The DCU’s Casting History Bodes Well For DC’s Next Live-Action Wonder Woman

The DCU Has Had No Misses Thus Far

To make matters even more exciting where Wonder Woman is concerned, the DC Universe has already proven how excellent its casting process truly is. David Corenswet was a big fan pick for Superman before the film was released, with the movie itself proving exactly why and proving any naysayers incorrect.

Corenswet was an excellent Superman, with Nicholas Hoult, Rachel Brosnahan, Edi Gathegi, Nathan Fillion, and Isabela Merced – to name only a few – also being perfect for their respective roles. This is without mentioning the casting of future projects, which includes Alcock as Supergirl, Jason Momoa as Lobo, Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, and Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan.

All of these choices are incredibly exciting and prove how strong the DCU’s casting has been thus far. When taking Gunn’s comments about Wonder Woman into account, too, my faith has only increased that the DC Universe will find an excellent actor for Diana Prince, truly proving how exciting the future of the Amazonian warrior is.
