There’s a good chance that Mortal Kombat II will end up being the most violent movie of the year. The Mortal Kombat franchise has always been controversial because of its over-the-top violence. In particular, the fighters in the video game series often perform ultra-violent fatalities to defeat their opponents.
While they can be controversial, these fatalities and the overall violence of the games are why people love Mortal Kombat. Therefore, fans are expecting to see a lot of fatalities in the upcoming Mortal Kombat II. Thankfully, the trailer for Mortal Kombat II has confirmed that the long-awaited sequel will be just as violent, if not more, than the 2021 movie.
In the highly anticipated sequel, Johnny Cage will team up with Earthrealm’s champions to fight against Outworld in a Mortal Kombat tournament. In addition to Johnny Cage, there will be many other new characters in Mortal Kombat II, who will all bring even more violence to the movie franchise. Therefore, here are the eight fatalities that have been confirmed for Mortal Kombat II:
8
Kitana’s Fan Fatality
Kitana Will Likely Betray Outworld In Mortal Kombat 2
Based on the trailer for Mortal Kombat II, it seems like Kitana is going to be instrumental to the movie’s story. She is seen fighting Johnny Cage, but the end of the trailer also shows a glimpse of her attacking Shao Kahn. This seemingly confirms that Kitana will betray the Outworld emperor and side with Earthrealm, just like she does in the video games.
During both of these fights, Kitana can be seen using her signature fans. These fans are a key aspect of most of her fatalities in the video games. Usually, she uses the fans to cut her opponent’s head off. The trailer doesn’t outright show her doing this, but her moves in Mortal Kombat II at least seem to be inspired by this fatality.
During her fight with Johnny Cage, Kitana kicks one of her fans out of the air, forcing him to dodge it. Later in the trailer, she uses one of her fans to try to pierce Shao Kahn’s helmet. Overall, it seems like Kitana will perform a lot of incredible moves with her fans in Mortal Kombat II, and they could very well cause some gruesome deaths.

Liu Kang’s Fire Fatality
Liu Kang Is Arguably Earthrealm’s Strongest Champion
Kitana definitely won’t be the only character who fights Shao Kahn in Mortal Kombat II. The trailer for the sequel teases a fight between Liu Kang and Shao Kahn, which is exciting since they are rivals in the video games. During this fight, which seems to take place in a temple, Liu Kang will conjure quite a bit of fire to use against the Outworld ruler.
The trailer for Mortal Kombat II shows Liu Kang summoning two pillars of fire and sending them towards Shao Kahn.
This move appears to be similar to his dragon fire fatality, which he used against Kabal in the first film. This easily made for one of the best moments in the first movie, so it’s exciting that Liu Kang will get to show off his powers once again in the sequel. The trailer for Mortal Kombat II shows Liu Kang summoning two pillars of fire and sending them towards Shao Kahn.
Since Shao Kahn is the main villain in Mortal Kombat II, it’s unlikely that this fire-related move will kill him. After all, it seems like Johnny Cage will be the one to take on Shao Kahn in the final fight of the tournament. However, it will still be amazing for Liu Kang to perform a move that is similar to a lot of his fire-based attacks in the games.
6
Sindel’s Banshee Scream Fatality
Sindel Will Stand By Shao Kahn’s Side In Mortal Kombat 2
While Shao Kahn will be the main villain in the sequel, Queen Sindel will likely be by his side for the majority of the movie. Mortal Kombat II will likely show Shao Kahn invading Edenia, where characters like Sindel, Kitana, and Jade are from. Because of this invasion and the death of King Jerrod, Kitana and Jade will probably betray Shao Kahn, but Sindel may be far more villainous and want to remain loyal to him.
Sindel might actually end up being one of the most powerful characters in Mortal Kombat II. The Queen of Outworld isn’t shown much in the trailer for the sequel, but she is briefly seen fighting Sonya Blade. During this fight, Sindel performs her banshee scream, which is her most popular fatality from the games.
In the games, Sindel’s banshee scream can completely tear her opponent’s skin off. It is a terrifying move, and shows how powerful she is. However, since Sonya is one of the main protagonists in Mortal Kombat II, it’s unlikely that Sindel’s banshee scream will be as effective during this specific fight.
5
Sonya Blade’s Pink Energy Ball Fatality
Sonya Will Be Much Stronger Than She Was In The First Movie
Like most of the other Earthrealm champions, Sonya didn’t have powers at the beginning of the first movie. However, after killing Kano near the end of the film, she inherited his dragon marking, which allowed her to unlock her arcana. Therefore, Sonya will be able to harness pink energy to fight opponents in Mortal Kombat II.
In some of the games, Sonya uses this pink energy to perform her fatalities. After defeating her opponents, Sonya can shoot a pink energy ball at them, which oftentimes causes them to explode. This is exactly what she appears to be doing during her aforementioned fight with Sindel.
While Sindel is performing her banshee scream, Sonya is shooting a pink energy ball. These two moves seem like they may cancel each other out, which may explain why both Sindel and Sonya survive this fight. Since she didn’t have powers for most of the 2021 film, it will be great to see Sonya fight with energy blasts in Mortal Kombat II.
4
Scorpion’s Spear & Sword Fatality
Scorpion & Bi-Han’s Rivalry Will Continue In Mortal Kombat 2
Scorpion vs. Bi-Han/Noob Saibot is definitely the fight that gets the most attention in the trailer for Mortal Kombat II. Since Bi-Han killed Scorpion’s family at the beginning of the first movie, these two fighters have a bitter rivalry. Even though Scorpion got revenge at the end of the 2021 film, Bi-Han will return as the wraith ninja Noob Saibot in the upcoming sequel.
At the end of the trailer, Scorpion uses his spears to pull Noob Saibot towards him, then slices him in half with his sword.
The trailer for Mortal Kombat II teases that Scorpion will kill Bi-Han once again. At the end of the trailer, Scorpion uses his spears to pull Noob Saibot towards him, then slices him in half with his sword. This is easily the goriest fight in the trailer, and proves that Mortal Kombat II will be an incredibly violent movie.
The move that Scorpion performs at the end of the trailer isn’t an exact copy of any of his fatalities from the games. However, in the games, Scorpion often utilizes his spears and his sword while executing his fatalities. Therefore, like many other entries on this list, Scorpion’s moveset during his fight against Noob Saibot in Mortal Kombat II definitely seems inspired by his fatalities in the games.
3
Kung Lao’s Hat Fatality
How Will Kung Lao Return In Mortal Kombat 2?
Speaking of characters who will return from the ᴅᴇᴀᴅ in Mortal Kombat II, Kung Lao also appears in the trailer. Since his soul was sucked out of his body by Shang Tsung in the first movie, it is unclear what kind of role Kung Lao will have in the sequel. However, it seems like he will fight against Liu Kang, his old best friend, in Mortal Kombat II.
It’s possible that he will be revived as a villain in Mortal Kombat II, but many fans are theorizing that Shang Tsung will instead use his shapeshifting abilities to adopt Kung Lao’s appearance in the movie. In the trailer for the sequel, Kung Lao can be seen fighting Liu Kang and another character in a location which appears to be a homage to the portal arena, which debuted in the second Mortal Kombat game.
During this fight, Kung Lao throws his hat towards Liu Kang and the other fighter. In the games, Kung Lao uses his sharp hat in most of his fatalities to cut his opponent into pieces. Therefore, it seems like this fight will take heavy inspiration from Kung Lao’s fatalities in the video games.
2
Baraka’s Arm Blade Fatality
Baraka Is A Terrifying Outworld Enemy
Baraka, one of the most fearsome Outworld warriors, is also featured in the trailer for Mortal Kombat II. The trailer heavily showcases a fight between Johnny Cage and Baraka, during which the Takartan general talks about how much the Hollywood actor annoys him. Given how surprised the actor looks while fighting Baraka, this could potentially be Johnny Cage’s first fight in Mortal Kombat II.
Thankfully, a brief sH๏τ in the trailer confirms that this won’t be Baraka’s only fight in the sequel. At the end of the trailer, a sH๏τ of Baraka stabbing someone through the neck is shown. The victim of Baraka’s blade is unknown, but the character is wearing a black hood and mask.
Regardless of who this character is, they clearly won’t stand a chance against Baraka in Mortal Kombat II. Baraka uses his blades, which stick out of his arms, for practically all of his fatalities in the games. These blades, and the fact that they are a part of Baraka’s body, always ensure he is such a scary character, and it will be great to see him in action in Mortal Kombat II.
1
Kano’s Eye Laser Fatality
Kano Will Return To Annoy More Characters In Mortal Kombat 2
Since Kano was arguably the most entertaining character in the first film, it’s amazing that actor Josh Lawson is reprising his role in Mortal Kombat II. In the first movie, Kano learned that his arcana was shooting a laser beam out of his eye. This is accurate to the games, but the first movie decided not to give Kano a cybernetic eye, which disappointed some fans.
Based on the trailer for Mortal Kombat II, it appears that Kano still doesn’t have a cybernetic eye in the sequel. However, he is thankfully shown using his eye laser in a fight in the movie’s trailer. During a fight in the Netherrealm with Johnny Cage and Noob Saibot, Kano tries to hit the wraith ninja with his laser beam while the actor slides underneath it.
Since he doesn’t have a cybernetic eye, Mortal Kombat II’s Kano doesn’t look perfectly accurate to his video game counterpart. However, it’s great that he will still use his laser beam powers in the sequel, since this is an important aspect of most of his fatalities in the games. Kano stole the show in the first movie, and hopefully he can do the same again in Mortal Kombat II.
