F1 The Movie Is Very Close To Overtaking Keanu Reeves’ Sci-Fi Classic In Studio’s All-Time Charts

F1: The Movie is very close to surpᴀssing Keanu Reeves’ 1999 sci-fi classic on Warner Bros.’s all-time box office chart. The Brad Pitt-led sports drama opened on June 27 and became Apple TV’s highest-grossing movie of all time within days of its release. Earlier this week, it crossed the $400 million benchmark at the global box office and became Pitt’s fifth highest-grossing movie, in which he starred as a lead.

As the film approaches its one-month benchmark in theaters, its box office continues to soar.

According to The Numbers, F1: The Movie has made more than $465 million at the global box office, which is only $1 million away from The Matrix‘s $466 million, currently ranking at No.52 on the studio’s all-time box office chart. Greta Gerwig’s Barbie remains Warner Bros.’s highest-grossing movie of all time, having made more than $1.4 billion.

What This Means For F1: The Movie And Warner Bros.

F1: The Movie Is A Hit For Warner Bros. But It’s Far From The Studio’s Best

It’s only been five days since the sports drama crossed the $400 milestone. With it having earned more than $65 million in five days, F1: The Movie will outperform The Matrix in no time. The 2021 monster movie Godzilla vs. Kong is currently the studio’s 50th highest-grossing movie of all time, having grossed around $470 million. It means Pitt’s sports drama will only need to make $15 million more to claim a place in the top 50.

F1: The Movie has achieved greater success worldwide than domestically. Currently, the No.7 highest-grossing movie first released in 2025 at the global box office, it closely follows Tom Cruise-led Mission: Impossible 8‘s $588 million achievement at No.6. Having only garnered around $156 million domestically, Pitt’s sports drama ranks at No.10 among the top-grossing movies released in 2025 at the domestic box office.

On the grand scale of Warner Bros.’s releases, the top five highest-grossing movies from the studio have crossed the $1 billion milestone, with A Minecraft Movie holding the No.10 spot at $954 million. While what the sports drama has achieved so far is impressive, it’s only halfway to making it to the studio’s top 10.

Our Take On F1: The Movie’s Box Office

F1: The Movie’s Box Office Could Mean A Longer Theatrical Run

F1: The Movie has serious potential, especially now that the movie is about to outshine The Matrix. However, how much higher it’ll rank will also be determined by how long the movie will stay in theaters. The Apple Original film is expected to arrive on the streaming platform in early fall or late August, which means the movie might only stay in theaters for another month.

Its continuing box office success could potentially prolong its theatrical run, similar to Mission: Impossible 8, which stayed in theaters longer than most films. In that case, it’s very likely the Apple Original sports drama will make even more headlines.
