Steven Spielberg Is Delivering A Sci-Fi Return That Should’ve Happened Much Sooner After $370 Million Blockbuster

Steven Spielberg is finally returning to the sci-fi genre in 2026, delivering a sci-fi reunion that should have happened so much sooner after this $370 million blockbuster. Steven Spielberg is one of the kinds of sci-fi, with it being one of his most prominently featured genres, and the director is finally making a new one next summer.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, A.I. Artifical Intelligence, and War of the Worlds are just some of the sci-fi movies that Steven Spielberg has directed, with him changing the genre forever. However, he has taken a break from sci-fi since 2018’s Ready Player One, a break that is finally ending in 2026.

Steven Spielberg is releasing an unтιтled sci-fi movie on June 12, 2026. While details haven’t been officially revealed, footage descriptions imply that it is a conspiracy thriller centered around UFOs. Since alien stories have been key to Spielberg’s filmography, this is exciting, but the film contains another exciting genre reunion as well.

Steven Spielberg’s UFO Movie Finally Brings Emily Blunt Back To Sci-Fi

After 2014’s Edge Of Tomorrow

After a hiatus of over a decade long, Emily Blunt is finally returning to sci-fi in Steven Spielberg’s unтιтled 2026 movie. Blunt will star in Spielberg’s upcoming movie, and while virtually nothing about her role in the movie is known, footage descriptions reveal that she is a heavily featured character who will be at the center of this UFO story.

Previously, Emily Blunt appeared in 2012’s Looper, with her then appearing in the cult sci-fi hit from 2014, Edge of Tomorrow. Although it wasn’t immediately a mᴀssive hit, the Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt film has gained a following in recent years, with there even being talks of an Edge of Tomorrow sequel. However, this still hasn’t happened yet.

Despite the modern following of Edge of Tomorrow, Emily Blunt still hasn’t returned to the sci-fi genre. While she was in the A Quiet Place movies, they are far more horror than sci-fi, with the science fiction element merely being used for a bit of worldbuilding. So, Blunt has been absent from the sci-fi world since 2014, but 2026 is finally going to change that.

Steven Spielberg has seen Emily Blunt’s sci-fi potential and is finally bringing her back for his 2026 movie, which is incredibly exciting. Teaming up this beloved actress with the iconic filmmaker means that they could make sci-fi magic once again, making Steven Spielberg‘s unтιтled movie one of the most highly-anticipated films of 2026.
