Reacher’s Alan Ritchson Revealed In First Image Of New Action Thriller With Just “4 Lines Of Dialogue”

Reacher star Alan Ritchson looks more intimidating than ever in a new image from his upcoming action thriller movie. Though some audiences will recognize him from projects like Smallville, Blue Mountain State, or The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013), it’s the hit Prime Video action series adapting the books by Lee Child that made Ritchson a star.

Reacher has been a mᴀssive hit for the streamer, with Ritchson taking on the lead role of Jack Reacher, a former MP who travels from town to town solving crimes and helping those in need. The show most recently returned for a well-received season 3, and Reacher season 4 is now confirmed to be on the way.

Following the Reacher premiere in 2022, Ritchson has become a more common sight in the world of movies, too. He recently appeared in Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (2024), for example, playing the formidable Anders Lᴀssen.

Ritchson also recently joined the Fast & Furious franchise, playing the shadowy government agent Aimes opposite Vin Diesel in 2023’s Fast X. He will also seemingly appear in the upcoming Fast X: Part 2. Before that, however, he’s set to take center stage as a hero in his own unique action thriller movie.

Alan Ritchson Is Bloodied Up In First Motor City Image

The Action Thriller Receives An Exciting Update

A first-look image has been shared from Motor City, and the new Ritchson film is confirmed to be a dialogue-light experience. Directed by Potsy Ponciroli, the upcoming action thriller stars Ritchson as John Miller, a felon who sets out for revenge against the criminals who framed him in 1970s Detroit.

Ritchson is joined in the Motor City cast by an array of talented actors, including Shailene Woodley, Pablo Schreiber, Ben Foster, and Lionel Boyce. No wide release date has been announced for the film just yet.

In a new Instagram post, Ponciroli shares the first image from Motor City, showing Ritchson bloodied up and holding a sH๏τgun in front of a 1970s car. In addition to revealing that the movie features only “4 lines of dialogue,” the filmmaker confirms that the film will premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September. Last summer we sH๏τ a gorgeous action film set in 70s Detroit… with only 4 lines of dialogue,” Ponciroli writes in his caption. “Today it’s official… we got into the Venice film fest! @labiennale So many people gave so much time and creativity to this project and [I] can’t wait to celebrate with you! @john_matysiak start shopping for suits!!

What This Means For Motor City

Will This Be Ritchson’s Most Violent Role Yet?

With a premiere planned for Venice, audiences can likely expect first reactions and reviews for Motor City to arrive in early September. As for when the film may be released to the public, however, that remains a question mark, but it’s possible that it could arrive before the end of the year.

Regarding the image, it seemingly confirms that Ritchson will be back to doing what he does best as an action hero, but potentially with some changes. Reacher takes advantage of Ritchson’s size and physique to make the character a physically imposing fighter, and it’s certainly violent, but Motor City could kick things up a notch.

The ’70s setting could lend itself to a much darker and more gritty aesthetic, and Motor City could feature Ritchson in his most violent and intense role yet. Many questions remain about the upcoming film, but the new image evidently makes it one to look forward to.
