Predator: Badlands’ New Apex Predator Is A Completely Different Beast For The Franchise

Predator: Badlands has finally revealed its main villain, with this Apex Predator being a completely different beat for the iconic sci-fi franchise. The Predator franchise has shown off all kinds of dangerous creatures throughout its many entries, but the new trailer for Predator: Badlands has just shown off a beast unlike any other, raising the stakes of the Predator series forever.

Predator: Badlands is almost here, with it being Dan Trachtenberg’s third movie in the series after Prey and Predator: Killer of Killers. However, Predator: Badlands is doing something unique: the Predator is the protagonist. The film will follow a Yautja named Dek who goes to a dangerous planet on his first hunt, teaming up with a Weyland-Yutani android named Thia to take down the ultimate prey.

The new trailer for Predator: Badlands shows off a lot more than the previous marketing materials, giving a better idea of what the story is about. The trailer confirms Thia’s Weyland-Yutani origins while showing how she meets Dek and while they work together. On top of that, the trailer seems to show off the creature that Dek is hunting, which is named the Apex Predator.

Badlands’ Apex Predator Will Be The Franchise’s First Non-Yautja Villain

What The Trailer Reveals About The Alien

A lot of alien species outside of the Yautja are shown off in the Predator: Badlands trailer, creating the dangerous planet that Dek will travel to in the movie. However, one monster stands out as the most dangerous: the Apex Predator. Dialogue of Thia talking about the Apex Predator plays over a sH๏τ of a mᴀssive beast that Dek is fighting, implying that this monster is the alien that Dek is hunting.

While very little is known about the Apex Predator or its origins, it is already an incredibly cool addition to the Predator franchise. This is because Predator: Badlands is completely flipping the series on its head with the introduction of its first non-Yautja villain in a movie.

Previously, the Yautja have been the villains of every Predator movie, with the protagonists being human characters who are being hunted by the Predators. This time, however, we will follow a Yautja protagonist who is taking on an antagonist of a different alien species, setting up an all-new kind of Predator story.

This Apex Predator is clearly dangerous, and the film will probably follow Dek as he stalks and learns more about the beast. Luckily, this acts as a breath of fresh air for the Predator franchise, giving longtime fans a reason to be excited for the release of Predator: Badlands.
