This 2025 Horror Movie Looks Like The Eeriest Release Of The Year With Each New Glimpse

This 2025 horror movie looks like the eeriest release of the year with each new glimpse. It’s far from the only standout in what’s shaping up to be another strong year for the genre. Horror is thriving with originality and ambition, fueled by breakout тιтles and franchise revivals that continue to redefine what the genre can achieve both commercially and critically.

Ryan Coogler’s Sinners stands as a shining example of original horror at its finest. The film has become a full-blown cultural phenomenon that made $365 million at the box office and received widespread critical acclaim. Its blend of psychological tension, social commentary, and supernatural dread has sparked Oscar buzz, which is incredibly rare for a horror film.

Franchise entries like Final Destination: Bloodlines and 28 Years Later have also delivered, proving there’s still room for innovation within established horror worlds. Meanwhile, A24’s Bring Her Back, from Danny and Michael Philippou, and The Monkey, written and directed by Osgood Perkins based on Stephen King’s 1980 short story, continue the trend of strong auteur-driven horror.

Still to come this year are Together, Zach Cregger’s Weapons, and Black Phone 2, which should continue solidifying 2025 as a strong year for horror. And yet, despite all this, one mysterious horror movie may outdo them all in terms of its sheer eeriness.

Keeper’s Teaser Trailer Continues The Film’s Creepy Marketing Campaign

It’s Directed By Osgood Perkins

Keeper‘s teaser trailer continues the movie’s creepy marketing campaign. Director Osgood Perkins, the son of Psycho star Anthony Perkins, has helmed the hit horror movies Longlegs (2024) and The Monkey (2025), and now he’s returning this year with another horror film. After Tatiana Maslany played Lois Shelburn in The Monkey, the mother to twin leads Hal and Bill, she will also be returning in Keeper.

Keeper, directed by Perkins with a script written by Nick Lepard, also stars Rossif Sutherland. Their two lead characters are named Liz and Malcolm, but other than that, not much is known about the horror film, including its supporting cast, with its plot details also securely under wraps. However, the movie’s masterful marketing campaign has been piquing audience interest.

The Monkey‘s post-credits scene contained a tease for Perkins’ next horror film, Keeper, and now, that teaser trailer is available to watch online. Backed by an eerie droning score, the trailer features footage of various female characters gazing lovingly into the camera. However, their gaze soon begins to look troubled, and eventually, they begin screaming, covered in blood.

After containing no dialogue for the first 40 seconds, the teaser trailer cuts to black before a woman says via voice-over, “This place isn’t right for me,” and the тιтle card appears, billing it as “a dark trip from Osgood Perkins.” The movie’s tagline also reads, “You’re not right for this place.” However, that is about the extent of which the movie’s creepy marketing campaign has revealed.

Neon masterfully marketed Longlegs, and it appears they are doing the same for Keeper.

Neon masterfully marketed Longlegs, and it appears they are doing the same for Keeper. For Perkins’ previous horror movie, Neon used guerrilla marketing tactics, generating intrigue with cryptic clips, images, and coded messages. That movie ended up making $128 million at the box office against its small $10 million budget. With Neon committed to a similar marketing campaign for Keeper, it could see similar success.

Keeper releases in theaters on November 14.
