Michael B. Jordan’s New Crime Thriller Casts Star Of Hit 96% Show After Co-Star’s Exit

Amazon MGM Studios’ reimagining of The Thomas Crown Affair has found its new co-lead, who will star alongside Michael B. Jordan. Following his dual performance in Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, Jordan is attached to direct and star in a remake of the 1968 crime thriller starring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. The film recently lost its co-lead, but has quickly found her replacement.

According to Variety, Andor‘s Adria Arjona is joining the project after Escape Room‘s Taylor Russell left due to creative differences. Arjona is playing an insurance investigator who’s sent to find the person responsible for the main bank heist, but falls in love with Jordan’s billionaire thief. The Hit Man actor joins a cast that includes Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbæk, and Aiysha Hart.

Drew Pearce wrote the script, but plot details are still being kept a secret. This film is the second attempt to remake the romance-heist classic after a 1999 version with the same тιтle that starred Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo. Jordan’s version is set to debut in theaters on March 5, 2027.

What Adria Arjona’s Casting Means For The Thomas Crown Affair

Michael B. Jordan’s Crime Thriller Can Still Premiere On Time

Amazon’s The Thomas Crown Affair was announced in September 2024. Jordan previously directed Creed III for MGM and largely succeeded in his directorial debut. The actor is riding high off the success of Sinners, and the studio likely wants to capitalize on this success by releasing the film sooner rather than later.

The crime thriller recently started production in London. However, Amazon did not announce a pause or delay in the production after Russell’s departure, quickly filling in the gap by casting Arjona shortly after. The studio is committed to getting the film out on time, as evidenced by their swift decision-making.

Arjona’s role is crucial to the film, as she is a main character and romantic co-lead to Jordan. Developing their chemistry is essential, meaning the Andor actor will need the proper amount of time to learn her character and establish a connection with her fellow cast members. However, Arjona is an excellent performer and will likely do a fantastic job in the role.

Our Take On Adria Arjona’s Casting

Arjona became a star thanks to her role in Andor, and season 2 only boosted her profile even higher. She’s an engaging and tough star, and it’s no surprise that she’s a popular fan casting for the DCU’s Wonder Woman. However, Star Wars is not the actor’s only achievement.

She recently starred in Zoë Kravitz’s Blink Twice and showcased electric chemistry with Glen Powell in Hit Man. Her role in the Richard Linklater comedy is evidence that she’s perfect for The Thomas Crown Affair, and she and Jordan will make a powerful duo. Arjona is a phenomenal addition to the cast, and the film will benefit greatly from this casting.
