Timothée Chalamet’s Upcoming Movies Continue A Smart Trend That’s Helped His Stardom

Over the last several years, Timothée Chalamet has become one of the most prominent actors in the world, and his Hollywood dominance won’t stop anytime soon. Ever since playing the lead in 2017’s Call Me by Your Name, which served as his breakout role, Chalamet has starred in plenty of critically and commercially successful movies.

In addition to Call Me by Your Name, Timothée Chalamet’s best movies include Beautiful Boy, Bones and All, A Complete Unknown, and, of course, the Dune films. Dune is an ongoing franchise that enures Chalamet will remain one of the top actors in the world until at least the end of 2026, when Dune: Part Three will be released, but this likely wouldn’t have been a problem anyway.

After all, Chalamet was just nominated for Best Actor at the Oscars and was one of the standouts of the 2025 awards season. Plus, with Marty Supreme releasing this December, there’s a chance that he will be nominated for the highly coveted Oscar once again. Speaking of both the Dune 3 and Marty Supreme, there’s an interesting trend in Chalamet’s career that’s helped his stardom.

Marty Supreme & Dune 3 Gives Timothée Chalamet 4 Consecutive Years With December Movie Releases

Timothée Chalamet Has Picked Amazing Roles Throughout His Career

Studios love to release movies in December. Since many people tend to take time off work around the holidays, movies released in December typically perform very well at the box office. Additionally, December is a time when many critically acclaimed films that go on to be nominated for major awards are released.

When examining Chalamet’s career, it’s notable that he has had a movie released in December for the last two years. In 2023, Wonka, which saw Chalamet take on an iconic character, was released and was a major box office success, grossing $634 million globally (via Box Office Mojo). Then, in 2024, A Complete Unknown was also a major commercial and critical success.

Chalamet will portray ping-pong champion Marty Reisman, and the buzz around the film suggests that it could be a major awards contender.

Portraying Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown earned Chalamet his Best Actor nomination at the 2025 Academy Awards. Within the next year, history could repeat itself following the release of Marty Supreme. In the Josh Safdie-directed movie, Chalamet will portray ping-pong champion Marty Reisman, and the buzz around the film suggests that it could be a major awards contender.

About one year after Marty Supreme, the highly anticipated Dune: Part Three will be released in theaters. 2024’s Dune: Part Two was a commercial success, grossing $714 million globally (via Box Office Mojo), and many have regarded it as one of the best blockbusters of all time. Therefore, it’s a safe bet that Denis Villeneuve’s third movie in the sci-fi franchise will also dominate the box office and receive immense critical acclaim.

Wonka, A Complete Unknown, Marty Supreme, and Dune: Part Three will give Chalamet four consecutive years with December releases. Clearly, December has been an amazing month for the actor, and continuing this trend will only allow him to get more popular. Therefore, I wouldn’t be surprised if Timothée Chalamet and his team try to continue this streak for many more years after the upcoming releases of Marty Supreme and Dune: Part Three.
