Sandra Bullock & Nicole Kidman Reunite After 26 Years In First Look At Practical Magic 2

The first-look behind-the-scenes footage for Practical Magic 2 reunites Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock 26 years after they starred in Griffin Dunne’s 1998 movie. In Practical Magic, Kidman and Bullock played a pair of sister witches plagued with a family curse that brings fatal consequences for the men they fall in love with.

Taking place after their parents’ deaths, the movie follows the two sisters as they use magic to overcome challenges in life. Last year, it was reported that the two stars were in talks to return for a sequel directed by Susanne Bier, with Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing reprising their roles as Aunt Jet and Aunt Franny.

In an Instagram post by Nicole Kidman, the Babygirl actor reunites with Bullock in the behind-the-scenes footage as filming is officially underway. Kidman captioned the clip, “The witches are back,” revealing that it was their first day on set. Bullock can be heard telling Kidman that “turns out we have a lot of work to do” while in character as the Owen sisters. Check out the post below:

What This Means For Practical Magic 2

The Film Is Scheduled To Arrive Next Year

Practical Magic is the only movie besides the scheduled sequel in which the two of Hollywood’s biggest actors starred alongside each other. This makes the reunion very special, especially since it’s been more than two decades since the 1998 movie adaptation. During that time, both stars became Oscar winners.

Kidman won an Oscar in 2003 for her performance as Virginia Woolf in The Hours, while Bullock went home with an Academy Award in 2010 for her role in The Blind Side. Practical Magic wasn’t a smash hit at the box office, nor did it win any major awards, but over the years, the film has achieved cult classic status, being a popular movie around Halloween.

Our Take On Practical Magic 2’s Filming Update

It’s Rare To See Them Together On Set Again

Practical Magic 2 is scheduled to come out on September 18, 2026. The production update confirms the movie’s filming start date in addition to teasing the rare reunion of the Owens sisters. In addition to the returning cast, Practical Magic 2‘s cast includes Lee Pace, Maisie Williams, Xolo Maridueña, Solly McLeod, and Joey King as one of Sally’s daughters.

Practical Magic made $68.3 million at the global box office against a $75 million budget.

Seeing Bullock and Kidman on set together again after 26 years is huge. So much has changed, but as soon as they step into character, the Owens sisters are back. It seems that, despite the two stars’ busy schedule, they are committed to making Practical Magic 2 a reality, which audiences will be able to watch next year.
