The D-Rex Vs. The Indominous Rex: The Most Powerful Jurᴀssic World Dinosaur Explained

Jurᴀssic World Rebirth continues along the path laid out by the prior Jurᴀssic World trilogy and builds to a hybrid dinosaur as its primary villain, but which killer creation would win in a fight: the Distortus Rex or the Indominus Rex? While the DNA science behind the Jurᴀssic Park franchise is impossible, that hasn’t stopped the wheels turning on bringing monstrous mash-ups to the big screen.

The box office returns for the latest Jurᴀssic movie prove that there is still plenty of appeтιтe for hybrid dinosaurs, and the one introduced at the very end of Jurᴀssic World Rebirth is the largest one yet. Unlike other franchise hybrids, the D-Rex is not a perfect scientific blend of species. Rather, it’s a monstrous, ill-formed abomination, complete with a misshapen bulbous head and four arms.

Despite its terrifying appearance, size, strength, and atтιтude, fans have debated whether the D-Rex is the ultimate predator in the Jurᴀssic Park/Jurᴀssic World franchise. Its primary compeтιтion (on land, anyway) is undoubtedly the Indominus Rex, the specially-designed super-predator with raptor intelligence inside a lightning-fast T.rex-sized frame.

Naturally, with so many awesome dinosaur fights in the franchise, one can’t help but wonder what would happen if these two mega monsters met. Fortunately, we’ve worked out who would come out on top in a fight based on what we know about each creature.

Why The Indominus Rex Would Beat The Distortus Rex In A Fight

Its Speed, Camouflage Ability, And Intelligence Outweigh The D-Rex’s Size Advantage

The Distortus Rex has the Indominus Rex beat when it comes to sheer size. While the Indominus Rex is listed at 40 feet long and weighing anywhere from 6-8 tons, the Distortus Rex measures in at 47 feet long, roughly 26 feet high, and weighs in at 10 tons. That’s a supreme size and strength advantage, and in a fight the D-Rex’s powerful front arms would be difficult to escape.

However, the Indominus Rex is built to be a perfect killing machine, whether the scientists intended her to be or not. Her ability to camouflage would provide her with a significant advantage over the D-Rex, which seems to have limited sight based on its constant tracking of flares (not unlike the T. rex) and the bulbous shape of its head.

What the Indominus Rex gives up in size it clearly makes up for in speed; in the open it can run at 30mph, and as seen in Jurᴀssic World, has exceptional agility to boot. It would have the ability to elude the larger, more lumbering D-Rex while still having enough size and strength to cause real damage once it gets in close.

The D-Rex is especially vulnerable to side attacks because of its limited agility and vision due to its bulky head and neck area.

Finally, the Indominus Rex’s main weapon is its intelligence. With raptor genetics mixed in, the Indominus is shown to be capable of laying traps, has a great memory, and has the wherewithal to dodge oncoming threats.

The D-Rex, who is already vulnerable to side attacks because of its limited agility and vision due to its bulky head and neck area, would stand little chance against the Indominus Rex if they ever meet in a Jurᴀssic World Rebirth spinoff or sequel.
