Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse Release Date Delayed AGAIN

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is facing another delay as the Marvel movie has been pushed once more. Miles Morales’ trilogy is coming to an end, and Sony is currently working on the highly anticipated Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse for 2027, following the events of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in 2023.

Like many Marvel and superhero movies in general, there has been a lot of secrecy surrounding the Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse story. While production is currently underway on Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, with actors set to record their lines for their respective characters, Sony has just made a significant change to the upcoming installment.

While Sony is still intending to release Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse in June 2027, the animated threequel from directors Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson is now set to be released on June 25 instead of June 4. The delay means the film is coming out three weeks later than initially expected.

What Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse’s Delay Means

As frustrating as it might be for fans to see yet another delay for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, there are some potential valid reasons behind the latest release date shift. According to insiders, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the new date “will be better for bringing in school-aged kids for summer break,” given how some schools would still be in session on June 4.

THR is also stating that June 25 is “seen as a more appealing date internationally,” which can also be to reflect the younger audience worldwide. Given that this is the Spider-Man franchise that is primarily geared towards the kid demographic, seeing a slight shift in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’s release date is appropriate, especially for the potential box office.

It’s also crucial to take into account that, given how ambitious the animation process is for the Spider-Verse movies, three additional weeks could also benefit the production team. With this set to be the trilogy finale, letting Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse be delayed only slightly can also give the creative team the chance to do proper final touches on the film.

Our Take On Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse’s Delay

Miles Morales upside down in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse

If Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse had been delayed to much later in 2027 or even 2028, that would have been an actual reason to be nervous about the delay. But in the end, this is such a small change that it makes sense, especially if it’s to make it more suited for the younger audience who loves this franchise.

What remains to be seen, however, is whether fans will get any footage of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse in 2025 or if they will have to wait until 2026. Hopefully, once Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse opens in theaters on June 25, 2027, this long wait will have been worth it.
