It’s Never Been Easier To Watch Rami Malek & Laurence Fishburne’s $96 Million Action Movie Than Right Now

Rami Malek and Laurence Fishburne‘s 2025 action movie is now easier to watch than ever. The two actors are generally well-regarded, and in fact both have been nominated for Best Actor Oscars for music biopics, with Fishburne being nominated for 1993’s What’s Love Got to Do with It and Malek winning for 2018’s Bohemian Rhapsody.

While the Bohemian Rhapsody star had his major breakout role on the small screen, portraying the hacker Elliot Alderson on USA Network’s Mr. Robot, there are a number of notable Rami Malek movies. In addition to appearing in installments of franchises including Night at the Museum, Twilight, and James Bond, he has also appeared in Short Term 12 and Oppenheimer.

Additionally, while Fishburne’s most prominent recent role is the John Wick character the Bowery King, he first rose to prominence as Morpheus in the Matrix movies. Since then, he has starred in a number of notable тιтles. This includes Mission: Impossible III, Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Man of Steel, and Contagion.

The Amateur Is Now Streaming On Hulu

The Movie Debuted In Theaters In April

2025’s The Amateur is now available on Hulu. The action movie, which stars both Rami Malek and Laurence Fishburne, originally debuted in theaters on April 11. It is based on the 1981 Robert Littell novel of the same name, which was previously adapted into a movie in 1981, and follows a CIA decoder who seeks revenge for his wife’s death.

The Amateur‘s critical and commercial performance was mixed. For instance, it made $96 million at the box office worldwide, which marks it as the 23rd highest-grossing movie of 2025 so far. However, its reported $60 million budget could place its estimated break-even point as high as $150 million, which means it may not have turned a profit in theaters.

Additionally, Rotten Tomatoes aggregated 181 different reviews to give The Amateur a middling Tomatometer score of 61%, which is enough for it to be considered Fresh, but just barely. One of these reviews was from ScreenRant‘s own Tatiana Hullender, who gave it a score of 7 out of 10. Read an excerpt from her The Amateur review below:

The Amateur could easily follow the fish-out-of-water template of a computer nerd trying his hand at not-so-government-sanctioned serial killing… but it opts for a very interesting mix with fewer laughs, almost no explosions, and plenty of food for thought.

Ultimately, The Amateur becoming easily accessible on streaming is probably the best thing for it. In spite of its underwhelming theatrical performance, the movie won over audiences much more easily than critics. On the Rotten Tomatoes Popcornmeter, it has a score of 88% from more than 2,500 verified user reviews.

This means that the Rami Malek and Laurence Fishburne movie could continue to grow its audience via word of mouth now that it is available to watch at home, and not at VOD prices. This might allow The Amateur to enjoy a much more prominent status as a modern action offering that it didn’t quite attain during its original run.
