Karl Urban’s Johnny Cage Stars In Fake Action Movie Trailer Ahead Of Mortal Kombat 2

Karl Urban is playing Johnny Cage in the upcoming movie Mortal Kombat 2, and the character has starred in a fake action movie trailer ahead of the actual trailer for the video game adaptation. Although Johnny Cage wasn’t in the first film, Karl Urban’s character is set to play a major role in Mortal Kombat 2, as is proven by this fake piece of action movie promotional material.

The trailer is for a fake in-universe movie тιтled Uncaged Fury, which is a corny action film starring Johnny Cage. The teaser shows Cage fighting several goons in a warehouse, with an epic voiceover explaining that Cage is seeking revenge after the criminals “pissed him off” and “f*cked with his shades.”

Cage manages to easily knock out the goons before a bazooka is fired at him, with him leaping over the missile. The teaser also shows off some of Cage’s past in-universe movies, with it naming fake New Line Cinema films Cool Hand Cage, Hard to Cage, and Rebel Without a Cage.

What The Fake Johnny Cage Movie Teaser Means For Mortal Kombat 2

How The Movie Is Handling Cage So Far

This Johnny Cage teaser trailer is perfect for the character ahead of Mortal Kombat 2‘s release, proving that the sequel is adapting some of Cage’s best qualities. In the Mortal Kombat video games, Johnny Cage is a Hollywood action star who stars in similarly cheesy action movies, and Mortal Kombat 2 has taken this premise and ran with it.

The teaser’s release also proves that Johnny Cage will most likely be at the center of Mortal Kombat 2‘s marketing campaign. While he isn’t the main character, he is a recognizable fighter and the sequel’s big new addition. Plus, Karl Urban is a big name thanks to his success on The Boys, meaning that the actor’s presence might draw some new fans in.

Our Take On Mortal Kombat 2’s Handling Of Johnny Cage

Karl Urban Has Done A Great Job As Cage

While some Mortal Kombat fans were hesitant upon news breaking of Karl Urban’s casting, this teaser proves that he is right for the role. Although we have only seen one side of Johnny Cage so far, Urban has perfectly pulled off the schlocky martial arts atтιтude of Cage’s movies, which is a tricky balance to find.

The upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 trailer will probably show off more of Johnny Cage outside of his movie star persona, which will provide a better look at Urban’s performance. However, Mortal Kombat 2 has given a successful first look at Johnny Cage, one that is sure to please fans and intrigue newcomers to the franchise.
