As one of the most beloved video games ever made, The Legend of Zelda has had numerous sequels and has already been adapted. After the game was first released in February 1986, a Legend of Zelda animated TV series came out in 1989.
Now, the franchise is being explored on the big screen through the creation of a live-action Legend of Zelda movie. The movie was officially announced by Nintendo in November 2023. The company subsequently promised that the film would be released in this decade, and it is now slated to come out on May 7, 2027.
The fantasy film already has a director attached, with Wes Ball. He recently directed Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, a franchise reboot that was decently received last year. Little is known so far about the plot of The Legend of Zelda movie.
Recently, the film just received a major update by casting Zelda and Link. Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will play the role of Link, and Bo Bragason will fill the тιтular role of Zelda. Upon Bragason’s casting, here is a closer look at her career.
Bo Bragason’s Movie & TV Career, Explained
She Started Her Career As A Child Actor
Bragason is a relative unknown in the industry, but she is not an absolute newcomer. Now 21 years old, she began her career as a child actor. Her first role was in the BBC true-crime miniseries Three Girls. At just 13 years old, she played the part of Rachel Winshaw in two episodes of the highly dramatic series.
From there, she had two one-off TV series roles (in Moving On and Creeped Out) and a small role in the feature film Censor. She then went on to have the most significant role of her career to date, playing the supporting role of Roxy in the Prime Video series Renegade Nell. She was in all eight episodes.
Like Zelda, Renegade Nell is a fantasy project. Though it was sadly canceled by Amazon after a single season, the show had a small but pᴀssionate audience base. This is the project from which people are most likely to recognize Bragason.
After Renegade Nell, Bragason’s projects have included a role in the mystery series The Jetty, a part in the dark comedy film The Radleys, and a supporting role in the show King and Conqueror.
As such, The Legend of Zelda will be Bragason’s first chance at a leading role and, certainly, her highest-profile project yet. This will give audiences a chance to discover the relatively unknown star, potentially catapulting an even bigger career for Bragason.
