Alan Ritchson is more than ready to take on a major role in the new DC Universe, and I’m convinced the actor has already proved multiple times that he can lead the juggernaut franchise. Ritchson’s popularity has skyrocketed in the past few years after he was cast as Jack Reacher in Prime Video’s hit Reacher series.
The actor would be perfect for many DCU canon characters, and Ritchson has been accordingly fancast for such roles. Still, Ritchson has yet to be called by the studio to audition or sign on for the DCU’s slate of projects. However, he has revealed the one hero he would love to play, and three projects show Ritchson is perfect for it.
Alan Ritchson Has Been A Frontrunner For DCU Batman Fancastings Since Day 1
A Few Actors Remain The Most Popular Picks For DC’s Next Batman
Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman are DC’s biggest characters. Of the Trinity, only Superman has been cast for the DCU, with David Corenswet recently debuting as the Man of Steel in theaters. Several rumors have emerged about actors who could replace Ben Affleck as DC’s cinematic version of Batman, and Ritchson has been included in them from the start.
It sure helps that the actor has commented in multiple interviews that he would love to play the DCU’s Batman and explore all the Dark Knight’s gadgets onscreen. Ritchson joins a list of popular candidates for Batman among fans that includes The Boys‘ Jensen Ackles, 1923‘s Brandon Sklenar, and more. Despite no updates, Ritchson remains a fan favorite for Batman.
Alan Ritchson’s Previous Superhero Roles Prove He’d Work As Batman
The Reacher Star Is No Stranger To The DC Universe
One of the elements that helps Ritchson’s chances of playing the DCU’s Batman is that the actor has plenty of experience at DC. In fact, the Jack Reacher star has already given life to one of DC’s biggest heroes. Ritchson played Aquaman in Smallville, joining Tom Welling’s Superman and other heroes in the DC show’s version of the Justice League.

More recently, Ritchson played a street-level vigilante, portraying Hawk in тιтans. While the show was not the best, Ritchson’s role became a fan-favorite, with the actor bringing the necessary grit to the veteran hero, though also sprinkling his signature comedic timing where needed. Ritchson’s Hawk also briefly made a cameo in the Arrowverse’s Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover.

Batman is a role that would allow Ritchson to use the best parts of his previous DC characters. As Aquaman, the actor dealt with the pressure of embodying a major hero and made him an imposing presence. As Hawk, Ritchson delivered a more dramatic performance that showed how his Batman could be frightening to villains and layered emotionally.
Alan Ritchson’s Other Acting Roles Certainly Don’t Hurt His Chances
Reacher Has Turned The Actor Into One Of Hollywood’s Biggest Action Stars
Beyond his DC roles, Ritchson’s career is filled with movies and series that showcase his skills for Batman. Recently, Ritchson let loose alongside former Superman actor Henry Cavill in Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. In Fast X, the actor proved he could be a scene-stealer in a major franchise.
Jack Reacher is pretty much a walking tank that is still charismatic despite his stoic nature and is a skilled detective.
Finally, Reacher is Alan Ritchson’s most famous role and the perfect showcase of his talents for Batman. Jack Reacher is pretty much a walking tank that is still charismatic despite his stoic nature and is a skilled detective. That description fits Batman, making the actor an easy choice. I would love to see Alan Ritchson play the DCU Batman.

The DC Universe is one of the biggest comic book franchises and often competes with Marvel. DC Comics started as National Allied Publications, founded by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson in 1935. Since then, the franchise has exploded with thousands of comic books, movies, TV shows, and video games. 2013 marked the beginning of the most recent iteration of the superheroes, with Zack Snyder introducing Henry Cavill as Superman. After several movies with mixed reviews, DC underwent a soft reboot under the helm of James Gunn and Peter Safran.
