The Fantastic Four: First Steps Trailer Reveals What Galactus Really Wants

The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘ latest trailer reveals what Galactus is after in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ralph Ineson’s Galactus has been teased in many of the trailers for the upcoming MCU movie, though a full look at the giant character has yet to be revealed. Marvel might be saving that for the film itself, though details continue to emerge.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘ story will focus on Galactus coming to Earth. His arrival is announced by Galactus’ herald, Julia Garner’s Silver Surfer, as has been seen in multiple trailers. However, the reason for the character’s trip to Earth had been a mystery until now. The answer to that question lies in another key The Fantastic Four: First Steps cast member.

On Twitter, Marvel Studios shared a new The Fantastic Four: First Steps trailer that explains how Galactus wants Franklin Richards.

During a press conference, Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards reveals that the Fantastic Four did not stop Galactus. Instead, they tried to negotiate with him in space, but the price to save Earth was too high, as Galactus asked for Franklin, Reed and Sue Storm’s son, in return. This means the Fantastic Four’s Earth is in serious danger of being destroyed.

What The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Major Galactus Reveal Means

The MCU Starts To Set Up Franklin Richards’ Importance

The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Franklin Richards to the MCU. The character is easily one of Marvel Comics’ most powerful beings. Even though he is just a baby in the live-action franchise, Franklin’s powers to manipulate reality at will make him one of the MCU’s most impressive characters. Franklin’s birth has been noticed by Galactus, and it could help him.

Galactus is known as the Devourer of Worlds in Marvel Comics. All signs point to that being true to the MCU’s version of the character. That means that Franklin Richards could provide Galactus with an endless supply of food, as Franklin could keep on creating new universes and planets for Galactus to consume.

Given how Galactus has his eyes set on Franklin, whom the Fantastic Four would never give up, things are not looking good for their Earth. Even more so with Avengers: Doomsday coming next year and the Fantastic Four’s ship being spotted in Thunderbolts*‘s post-credits scene. If handing Franklin over is the only way to stop Galactus, then the heroes should lose.

Our Take On The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Major Galactus Reveal

The moment Marvel revealed that Franklin Richards was in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, I anticipated that Galactus would be after him. It just makes sense for the cosmic being to search for the character who could provide him with an endless food supply. With The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘ trailer confirming it, I’m convinced the team will have to flee.
