When You Can Watch Smurfs At Home On Streaming

2025’s Smurfs movie is one of the most notable animated releases of the summer, and while it is nearing the start of its theatrical run, here is when you can expect to be able to watch the film on streaming. While viewers who want to see Smurfs as soon as possible should head to theaters on July 18, fans who are willing to wait may not have to wait long.

The upcoming Smurfs animated movie is the latest installment in the iconic franchise, with it once again rebooting the movie series after the 2011 live-action film and 2017’s Smurfs: The Lost Village. The film is directed by Chris Miller and Matt Landon and, like the other Smurfs movies, it features an all-star cast.

Smurfs stars Rihanna as Smurfette, with the actor and musician also performing several songs in the film. Other cast members include James Corden, John Goodman, Nick Offerman, Dan Levy, Natasha Lyonne, Sandra Oh, Jimmy Kimmel, Kurt Russell, and many more notable stars. Smurfs releases in theaters on July 18, 2025.

When Will Smurfs Release On Streaming?

And What Streaming Service It Will Come To

While no official streaming release date has been announced for Smurfs yet, a guess can be made based on its production company. Smurfs is produced by Paramount Animation and distributed by Paramount Pictures, meaning that it will most likely follow the release schedule of many of Paramount’s other films.

Based on 15 Paramount releases since the beginning of 2023, the company’s movies hit streaming on average 64.7 days after their theatrical releases. However, Mission: Impossible – ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Reckoning Part One‘s 197-day window sways this number heavily, and when excluded the average drops to 54.5 days.

So, Smurfs will probably hit streaming around two months after its theatrical release, meaning around early to mid-September. Since Smurfs is a Paramount film, it will undoubtedly release on Paramount+ when it does hit streaming.

When Will Smurfs Release On Digital?

Based On Paramount’s Previous Releases

Before Smurfs drops on Paramount+, it will probably become available for rental or purchase on digital platforms. Using similar data, Paramount movies’ since 2023 have hit digital storefronts an average of 39.1 days after their theatrical releases (35.2 days when excluding Mission: Impossible – ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Reckoning Part One).

This means that Smurfs will probably become available on digital in mid to late August. So, viewers who want to skip the theatrical experience may only have to wait around a month before they can see Smurfs from the comfort of their own homes.
