Jurᴀssic World Rebirth Outgrosses Two Superhero Blockbusters With Huge Global Box Office Milestone

Jurᴀssic World Rebirth has outperformed two major superhero movies from the first half of 2025. The new dinosaur adventure movie, which stars Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali, is the seventh installment in the Jurᴀssic Park franchise.

The Jurᴀssic World Rebirth release kicked off the Wednesday before the Fourth of July weekend with a 3-day debut of $92 million that hit the exact middle of the franchise, outgrossing the debuts of the original Park trilogy but falling behind all three of the previous World installments.

Per Variety, as of Sunday morning, Jurᴀssic World Rebirth is projected to end its second weekend in theaters with a cumulative worldwide box office gross of $529 million. This is set to be a huge boost from its global total as of Friday, which was $378.5 million.

That total sees it shooting past the worldwide grosses of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Thunderbolts* ($382 million) and Captain America: Brave New World ($415.1 million) to become the sixth movie of 2025 to pᴀss the $500 million global milestone, behind How to Train Your Dragon, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, A Minecraft Movie, Lilo & Sтιтch, and Ne Zha 2.

What This Means For Jurᴀssic World Rebirth

It Should Be Able To Keep Climbing

While both Thunderbolts* and Captain America underperformed compared to their reported budgets, the fact that Jurᴀssic World Rebirth was able to outstrip their global totals within just 12 days shows that it is performing at a blockbuster level. However, it remains to be seen how much higher it can climb up the worldwide box office chart for the year.

The reported budget of Jurᴀssic World Rebirth is $180 million, the same as both Thunderbolts* and Captain America: Brave New World.

Ultimately, it would be more or less impossible for Rebirth to beat the record-breaking $1.899 billion haul of Ne Zha 2, which has outgrossed every installment in the Jurᴀssic World franchise. Similarly, it does not seem on track to reach the level of Lilo & Sтιтch or A Minecraft Movie, which have both grossed more than $950 million,

However, it should quickly surge past How to Train Your Dragon, which only just pᴀssed the $550 million global milestone in its fourth weekend. Once it does that, it will only be a matter of time before it pᴀsses the global gross of the year’s current No. 4 тιтle, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning ($579.8 million).

Our Take On The Jurᴀssic World Rebirth Milestone

It Has Major Summer Movie Compeтιтion

While Jurᴀssic World Rebirth will likely be quickly surpᴀssed by newer summer movies such as Superman (which is projected to end this weekend with a 3-day global debut of $217 million) and Marvel’s upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps (which may have an even bigger debut), its current trajectory is nevertheless impressive.
