Jurᴀssic World Rebirth Box Office Quickly Climbs Franchise’s All-Time Chart With New Milestone

Jurᴀssic World Rebirth has continued to climb up a major chart for the franchise. The movie is the sixth sequel to Steven Spielberg’s 1993 blockbuster Jurᴀssic Park. The standalone story stars Mahershala Ali, Scarlett Johansson, and Jonathan Bailey as members of a team who are sent to extract dinosaur DNA on an island full of mutant genetic experiments.

The Jurᴀssic World Rebirth release kicked off on the Wednesday of Fourth of July weekend, taking No. 1 at the domestic box office with a 3-day domestic debut weekend of $92 million and a 5-day holiday debut of $147.8 million.

Per ᴅᴇᴀᴅline, as of Saturday morning, Jurᴀssic World Rebirth is projected to earn a 3-day domestic total of $38.7 million by the end of its sophomore weekend. This will bring its cumulative domestic box office gross to $230.8 million.

In addition to seeing it become only the fifth movie of 2025 to pᴀss the $230 million domestic milestone, this total means that Rebirth will outgross the domestic total of 1997’s The Lost World: Jurᴀssic Park ($229 million) to become the fifth highest-grossing movie of the franchise in North America by the end of its 12th day in theaters.

What This Means For Jurᴀssic World Rebirth

It May Not Climb Higher Up The Chart

Because Rebirth is the seventh installment of a franchise that has a number of hit blockbusters to its name, it will become increasingly difficult for it to climb up the domestic chart for Jurᴀssic Park. In fact, if it hopes to climb just one more slot, it will have to earn an additional $146 million to outgross Jurᴀssic World Dominion‘s $145.1 million.

Below, see a breakdown of the domestic performance of all seven Jurᴀssic movies:

тιтle

3-Day Domestic Debut

Domestic Total

Jurᴀssic Park (1993)

$50.1 million

$415.4 million

The Lost World: Jurᴀssic Park (1997)

$72.1 million

$229 million

Jurᴀssic Park III (2001)

$50.8 million

$181.2 million

Jurᴀssic World (2015)

$208.8 million

$652.3 million

Jurᴀssic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018)

$148 million

$417.7 million

Jurᴀssic World Dominion (2022)

$145.1 million

$376.8 million

Jurᴀssic World Rebirth (2025)

$92 million

TBD

Ultimately, Rebirth doesn’t seem likely to outperform Dominion at the domestic box office. It had the lowest domestic debut of the Jurᴀssic World subfranchise, falling below Dominion by more than $50 million. It would have to have an outstanding audience hold in order to eventually climb past the 2022 movie’s all-time domestic gross.

However, that has not proven to be the case so far. Rebirth‘s projected sophomore weekend gross sees it dropping 58% from its debut weekend, which almost exactly matches the 59.2% drop that Dominion itself experienced. This puts both movies on a similar trajectory, so the new installment will likely not gross more than $250 million in North America.

Our Take On The Jurᴀssic World Rebirth Box Office

The Movie Is Still Performing Well

Even if the new movie remains the third lowest-grossing installment, this does not necessarily mean that it will be a commercial failure. The reported budget of Jurᴀssic World Rebirth is only $180 million, which makes it one of the cheaper World movies, which have reported budgets that range between $170 and $215 million.

Because the franchise is littered with billion-dollar hits, there is plenty of room for Jurᴀssic World Rebirth to turn a solid profit against its budget with its worldwide gross without surpᴀssing the box office of the previous installments.
