WARNING: This article includes SPOILERS from the Superman movie.
David Corenswet shares a surprising moment from filming Superman alongside his DC Universe co-star Rachel Brosnahan. The Man of Steel and The Daily Planet’s star reporter have finally returned to the big screen as Clark Kent and Lois Lane have come to life in James Gunn’s DCU franchise with the new Superman movie.
One of the key aspects of Gunn’s Superman was exploring Lois and Clark’s romantic and working relationship, as they have been dating for a couple of months when the story first picks up. With Brosnahan and Corenswet serving as the newest live-action incarnations of Lois and Superman, it marks a new era for the DC icons.
During a new interview with People, Corenswet shared a story from when he and Brosnahan were filming Superman, and at one point, he was thrown off by a delivery from his co-star that had him accidentally drop the F-bomb as the Man of Tomorrow. While it shocked everyone, Corenswet stressed that it was involuntary, as he shared the following:
She made me curse at her. The way she delivered one particular line made me sort of involuntarily say, ‘Oh f–k you,’ which I think was a shock to all of us. She got me. She caught me off guard and made me feel really hurt in that moment. And so I, in character, sH๏τ back at her.
It’s possible the scene that Corenswet is referring to is when Lois interviews Clark as Superman at the beginning of the movie. Another possibility, based on Corenswet’s Superman story, is during Lois and Clark’s fight.
What David Corenswet’s Superman Story Means
Even though Corenswet’s Superman story may be shocking to some, it goes to show that sometimes, during filming, another actor’s performance can lead to some surprises. While some may think the cussing was surprising, it definitely wasn’t a disrespectful act on Corenswet’s part, and more so of a moment where he was thrown off.
If the scene that he is referring to in the 2025 Superman movie was during Lois’ interview, it’s crucial to remember that she was asking the Man of Steel hard-hitting questions that he was never used to before. The lesson of that interview was for Superman to realize that he has to be more careful with the words he uses when addressing the press.
Our Take On David Corenswet’s Superman Story
After hearing Corenswet’s Superman story, it would be fun to see that as one of the moments on the blooper reel when the home media release comes out. The cussing was likely something that had people laughing on set, and Corenswet’s story now gets to be a funny Superman movie reference for those who follow the making of the film.
Following the ending and the Superman post-credits scene, it will be exciting to see what is next for Lois and Clark in Gunn’s DCU. Hopefully, the wait for another Superman movie won’t be too long, as Corenswet and Brosnahan’s era is just getting started.
