Liam Neeson’s New Action Movie Is An Action-Packed Sequel – And It’s Already Streaming

Liam Neeson is undeniably one of the most popular action stars of his generation, and his filmography doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Over the past few years, he has starred in a huge array of brutal action movies that have mostly found a welcome home on streaming, although very few of these projects have been successful enough to warrant sequels.

But this pattern is beginning to come to an end, as one of Neeson’s best recent movies now has a sequel that’s available to purchase digitally. Except for Taken, his filmography is primarily one of standalone movies, not blockbuster franchise filmmaking. This key ᴀsset separated him from the other action stars of his generation, but it also hindered some of his projects from reaching their true potential as long-running series.

Instead, the actor has focused on sharp, direct-to-streaming thrillers over the past few years, essentially monopolizing this subgenre. Even some of Neeson’s worst movies have found success on streaming, and the actor really seems to have found his niche.

Liam Neeson’s Ice Road: Vengeance Is An Unlikely Sequel That’s Worth Watching

The Sequel Amplifies Everything That Worked About The Original

While it’s fair to say that nobody was expecting a sequel to Neeson’s 2021 thriller The Ice Road, the recent sequel has a lot of redeeming features that justify its existence. While the original movie received mixed reviews for its messy storytelling, plot conveniences, and poor pacing, Vengeance feels like a bolder, more enjoyable project that’s certainly over-the-top at times and doesn’t break new ground within the genre, but it’s entertaining nonetheless.

Reviews for Ice Road: Vengeance have been mostly positive so far, with many critics praising the film’s intense action and storytelling. It certainly doesn’t overcome the fundamental flaws of the original, but it’s still worth watching for anybody looking to kill two hours with a loud, flashy action thriller starring one of the genre’s most reliable talents.

Liam Neeson Has An Even Bigger Action Movie “Sequel” Coming Up

The Actor Is Trying Something New With The Naked Gun

Interestingly, 2025 is seemingly the year in which Neeson is finally embracing sequels, with The Naked Gun coming later this summer and hopefully rebooting the comedic side of the actor’s career.

There’s so much potential riding on the reboot to once again prove that Neeson is capable of much more than just beating up villains and threatening bad guys over the phone. He’s also a fierce comedic talent, and The Naked Gun will hopefully give him a solid script to work with.
