The Devil Wears Prada 2 Adds 8 New Actors, Including Bridgerton, Kill Bill, & The Office Stars

The Devil Wears Prada 2 has added eight new stars to its cast. Filming is currently underway for the sequel that will see Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt returning. Kenneth Branagh was the first new addition to The Devil Wears Prada 2 cast.

The sequel will see Streep’s character, Miranda Priestly, grappling with the current state of the print industry, which is struggling due to the rise of digital media. Miranda’s previous ᴀssistant, Emily Charlton (Blunt), is now a rival and prominent executive in the fashion world, and the two will compete for ad revenue. Branagh will play Miranda’s husband.

ᴅᴇᴀᴅline now reports that Bridgerton‘s Simone Ashley has joined The Devil Wears Prada 2 cast. Details about her new character remain under wraps. Ashley previously played Lady Kathani “Kate” Bridgerton in 11 episodes across seasons 2 and 3 of the hit Netflix series.

According to Variety, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, Broadway stars Helen J. Chen and Conrad Ricamora, and comedian Caleb Hearon have joined the cast as well. Two actors from the first movie are also returning, with Tracie Thomas as the best friend of Hathaway’s character, Andy Sachs, and Tibor Feldman as Elias-Clark chairman Irv Ravitz.

What This Means For The Devil Wears Prada 2

Key Additions HaVe Been Made To The Cast

Hathaway, Streep, Tucci, and Blunt reprising their characters from the beloved original film was crucial to making the sequel a reality and for generating excitement. With the additions of Branagh, Ashley, Liu, Theroux, and the rest of the newcomers, the David Frankel-directed movie is filling out its cast of new characters as production continues ahead of the May 1, 2026 theatrical release date.

While nothing has been revealed yet about any of the new characters, it will be intriguing to see where they fall in the conflict between Miranda and Emily, along with how they connect to Andy and Tucci’s iconic Nigel Kipling. Since Ashley has experience as a fashion model, this may be part of her character’s role in The Devil Wears Prada 2.

The modern-day sequel will have a very different sense of fashion compared to what Ashley wore in Bridgerton seasons 2 and 3, which are set in the Regency era. The movie’s production will not affect Bridgerton season 4, which she is confirmed to be in, since the upcoming episodes have already finished filming.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 will not only be continuing the stories of its most popular characters.

As for Thomas and Feldman, their returns confirm that The Devil Wears Prada 2 will not only be continuing the stories of its most popular characters. Tracie will seemingly still be an important part of Andy’s life and Ravitz will still be an important figure in the fashion industry.

Our Take On The Devil Wears Prada 2 New Cast Members

The Sequel Can Be More Than Nostalgia

With The Devil Wears Prada being one of the defining movies of Meryl Streep’s career, having her play Miranda again, along with the return of the other original cast members, is what I find most exciting. That being said, a sequel can only work if it can also bring in compelling new characters that are worth investing in.

Ashley, Liu, Theroux, Novak, and all the newcomers are excellent choices to make this happen given their considerable talent and experience. Bringing in actors of this caliber is a promising sign that The Devil Wears Prada 2 will not just rely on nostalgia and can do something truly different given the influx of new characters.
