K-dramas and Korean movies have been dominating the Netflix sphere. While Korean content has been around for some time, the buzz of movies like Parasite and shows like Squid Game have put the industry on the map. Squid Game, in particular, helped with the growth of K-drama, which has now been gaining prominence among many streamers, including Disney+ and Prime Video.

Recently, K-content has been dominating every space on Netflix. In addition to the Squid Game dropping its final episodes, KPop Demon Hunters became an overnight hit. While the movie itself is English-language, the story’s inspiration comes from the rise of K-pop, and now there are award talks for some of its music. On the other hand, a Korean thriller also landed on Netflix, and it’s already hitting the charts.

Streaming is the latest Korean thriller to land on Netflix. The movie stars Kang Na-heul, who plays a streamer known for covering top crimes in South Korea. As he covers the idenтιтy of the murder case, he notices that the murderer himself is watching the stream, leading to a series of twists and turns.

According to Netflix Tudum, Streaming has cracked Netflix’s Top 10 Non-English language charts. It currently ranks at the no. 10 position, with just one million views. The movie is only available in South Korea, but it was enough to end up on the country and Netflix’s overall streaming charts.

Why Streaming Quickly Rose To Netflix’s Global Charts

Kang Is Currently A Rising Star, Especially After Squid Game

There are plenty of reasons why Streaming was able to easily land on the streamer’s charts. There is a lot of strong interest in K-content, with KPop Demon Hunters and Squid Game season 3 also dominating their movie and TV charts, respectively. However, since Streaming is not available elsewhere, it’s worth mentioning that Kang is also becoming one of the biggest actors in South Korea.

Kang starred in Squid Game seasons 2 and 3, where he portrayed the contestant Dae-ho. Since then, the actor has been busy both on and outside of Netflix, having recently appeared in projects like Tastefully Yours and Yadang: The Snitch, which is currently the highest-grossing Korean movie in the country of this year. The romance show, in particular, was released a month before Squid Game season 3’s premiere.

Squid Game and Tastefully Yours are not the only Kang projects that are available on Netflix. The actor already has another movie lined up to release on the streamer Wall to Wall, which will be released on July 18. Nevertheless, the actor has quickly grown into one of the most sought-after actors in the industry, so hopefully, the streamer will consider making the thriller more available internationally.
