Andor production designer Luke Hull has revealed a stunning – albeit surprising – Darth Maul Easter egg in the show. Andor was undeniably a labor of love for the entire production team; the show is currently being pushed for no less than 23 Emmy awards, which means everyone involved is celebrating their work.
Production designer Luke Hull took to Instagram to share one of the stunning Ghorlectipod spider murals from the planet Ghorman.

As noted by Jammin333 on Twitter, this design is deliberately evocative of Darth Maul. When the Sith Apprentice was resurrected in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, it was with cybernetic spider-legs added to the mix – making this Darth Maul reference so very smart.
Andor Season 2 Was A True Labor Of Love
But Nobody Expected A Darth Maul Easter Egg
Andor had a mammoth $650 million budget, so it’s not really a surprise to see how much care and attention went into every aspect of the design. This particular Easter egg is a smart one, though, not least because it only make sense with pretty deep Star Wars knowledge. It’s even better given how subtle and secret it is, too.
Tony Gilroy has often credited the production team for the staggering number of Easter eggs in the show (particularly in Luthen’s gallery). That certainly fits with this one.
Andor Totally Deserves To Dominate This Awards Season
This Is The Best Star Wars TV Has Ever Been
Lucasfilm and Disney fully understand how important Andor is. This is easily the best Star Wars TV show to date, produced with so much love and care, benefited from fantastic writing and incredible performances. Andor deserves all the accolades Disney hope to win at the Emmies.
For now, though, viewers can no doubt continue to enjoy more Easter eggs and references like this; subtle details revealed by the team, ones that show just how much care and attention they paid to Andor.
