$105M John Wick Spinoff Movie Is Now Available For Digital Release After One Month In Theaters

A John Wick spinoff movie that made $105 million at the box office is now available on digital platforms after spending one month in theaters. The action franchise started in 2014 with John Wick, starring Keanu Reeves as the legendary ᴀssᴀssin who comes out of retirement to seek revenge against those who killed his dog, a final gift from his recently deceased wife.

Since then, the franchise and its intricate mythology have expanded significantly with three sequels and John Wick: Chapter 5 currently in the works, all directed by Chad Stahelski. Other than the mainline movies, there have also been various spin-offs that have expanded the franchise. This includes the Peacock miniseries The Continental, exploring the origins of the тιтular H๏τel and ᴀssᴀssin safe haven.

There are also several John Wick spinoff movies in the works, including one focused on Caine with Donnie Yen reprising his role from John Wick: Chapter 4 in addition to directing. There is also an upcoming animated prequel that will tell the story of how John Wick, voiced by Keanu Reeves, was able to leave the High Table to be married.

Ballerina Is Now Available On Digital Platforms

The $105M John Wick Spinoff Spent One Month In Theaters

Ballerina is now available on digital platforms. Taking place between the events of Chapter 3 – Parabellum and Chapter 4, the John Wick spinoff film introduces Ana de Armas as the тιтular ballerina-turned-ᴀssᴀssin Eve Macarro, who trains in the traditions of the Ruska Roma and sets out to seek revenge against those who killed her father.

In addition to de Armas, Ballerina‘s cast also includes Gabriel Byrne, Norman Reedus, Catalina Sandino Moreno, and several John Wick stars reprising their roles, such as Keanu Reeves, Anjelica Huston as the Director, the late Lance Reddick as Charon, and Ian McShane as Winston Scott.

After spending one month in theaters, Ballerina is now available to buy or rent on digital platforms. On Prime Video, for instance, it’s available to rent for $19.99 and purchase for $24.99. However, for those willing to wait, Ballerina will eventually be available to stream on Starz, likely around November.

What Ballerina’s Digital Release Date Means For The Movie

Its Disappointing Box Office Run Is Effectively Over

With Ballerina now available on digital platforms, its disappointing box office run is effectively over after only one month. Released in theaters on June 6, Ballerina made only $105 million at the box office, which was enough to make back its $90 million budget, but falls well short of the $225 million threshold it needed to turn a profit and be considered a success.

Freed from the high-stakes expectations of the box office, Ballerina may be able to find its true rhythm on digital platforms.

This is despite Ballerina‘s positive reviews, which praised the film for spinning confidently into the spotlight of the John Wick universe by outfitting a fierce Ana de Armas with inventive, hard-hitting action scenes and a delightfully quirky backstory. Freed from the high-stakes expectations of the box office, Ballerina may be able to find its true rhythm on digital platforms.
